Bizarre spellings of names

Anyone seen or heard a name which has a ridiculous spelling? I was served in a shop today by a Georja.

Looked very wrong

Zowie Bowie changed his name as he grew up. He's now known as Duncan Jones (Jones was Bowie's original name, Bowie his stage/professional name).

Someone gets this wrong on every name thread.

I also knew a Nike at uni - pronounced Nicky. He was a nob.

I feel sorry for a lot of these kids because people will make judgements about them, even though it’s not their fault that their parents are thick/attention-seekers or whatever the reason is that compels people to saddle their children with outlandish spellings of often perfectly normal names.
Why not choose a slightly less popular name instead of massacring the spelling of an unremarkable name if you want your child to stand out from the other kids?

Kathryn is a perfectly normal spelling of Catherine/Katherine/Katharine. I know more than one (loads of Catherines at my secondary school in the 80s)

I teach a Tabatha. That just looks wrong.

Kathryn was popular in the 1960s along with Debra. I know two women called Suzan pronounced Suzanne and 2 Carens.

I've come across a Chardonai and a Pyper. A distant relative also has a Deztiny nn Dezzi

Also no a Ryley and a Jaxon but they seem like accepted spellings these days

Nothing that odd about Kristofer surely? (Or indeed any of the other variations...? Christophe, Kristof.. ) - it’s just how it’s spelt in some Nordic and Eastern European countries. Christopher isn’t unique to the English language, there’s a version in all European languages ...

Some from this thread seem to be genuinely ridiculous “Unique” spellings of names but some seem to be mistaking other languages as stupid names Hmm
