Help settle an argument please!

Loudon - as in loo-don or loud(to rhyme with cloud)-on

Loud-un. That seems totally obvious to me and I'm quite bemused that there are alternatives. I'm in Scotland though where it's a well known place and name so I guess I've just heard it many times before.

Yeah, bruffin, I remembered that it was pronounced the opposite way from how I always thought it was pronounced. Unfortunately I forgot how I always thought it was pronounced Grin. I only heard it said recently, when I watched a documentary on Rufus W.

I would say Loo-don, but I'd not know for sure whether it should be like that, or like 'Loud-on'.'

It's a common surname in Scotland.

It definitely isn't Loo-don!

I think the "i" changes the pronounciation.

I instantly thought "Loud en" as in Cloud, loud etc
