Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Love Hugo!

I’m not keen on Julian, but it isn’t the worst name I’ve ever heard.

Smoliver · 20/11/2017 11:02

I love Julian. Not a massive fan of Jules as a nickname - it reminds me of Joules the shop.

RatRolyPoly · 20/11/2017 10:57

I LOVE Jules. Not so much Julian but meh, I don't like the long version of my own name much either but the shortening is ace.

TatianaLarina · 20/11/2017 10:54

I like Julian.

Not sure many children read Famous Five these days, it’s very dated.

keepingbees · 20/11/2017 09:41

I don’t like it sorry. Love Hugo but not sure they go together

CPtart · 20/11/2017 09:37

Rather effeminate, sorry.

Mumsiemummy1 · 20/11/2017 09:22

Julian and Hugo, love love love :)

PetitErmitage · 20/11/2017 09:21

BertrandRussell - of course, but as I explained, they are 2 different names (typically pronounced differently) rather than the same name 'incorrectly' spelled.

"obviously you'd have to be prepared to correct people if they assumed it was 'Julian'."

And so would he. For the next 80 years. Probably at least once a day.

I can't detach t from the Famous Five in my head, sorry. James goes well with Hugo. Patrick? Peter? John?

Topseyt · 20/11/2017 08:59

Julian is OK. Not a favourite of mine, but OK. Very Famous Five-ish.

To me though, Jules is a girl's name. Some may disagree, but it just is to me.

PetitErmitage · 20/11/2017 08:54

I like it - we considered 'Julien' as a middle name.

'Julien' is the French spelling and is pronounced slightly differently if you wanted to follow th French way (so not 'incorrect' as a PP was suggesting) but obviously you'd have to be prepared to correct people if they assumed it was 'Julian'.

HettyB · 20/11/2017 08:45

I really like Julian, but couldn’t get DH to agree

17caterpillars1mouse · 20/11/2017 08:40

Love Julian but here Jules with a passion

catsarenice · 20/11/2017 08:39

Just realised I've pretty much suggested the cast of Made in Chelsea Blush

catsarenice · 20/11/2017 08:39

It does go with Hugo but I'm not too keen. How about Frances, Digby or Spencer? All similar types.

helpmum2003 · 20/11/2017 08:15

Like some others I have an unreasonable dislike of the name Julian. I love Hugo and not sure they go together? Sorry!

Names that go with Hugo - Theo (dore), Oscar, Ben (jamin), George, Thomas...

Ecclesiastes · 20/11/2017 08:12

Juliuan is...OK, but as a pair with Hugo it's just too much 'ooooo' sound, IMHO.
How about Ralph? Or Marcus?

Snugglysnuggles · 20/11/2017 08:12

I love jules as a nn for a girl but not so much for a boy.
Love your son's name Hugo though-what about Gregory, Rupert, Albert, Willfred

SavageBeauty73 · 20/11/2017 08:09

I've always hated the name Julian. Everyone I have met has been a bully.

fruitlovingmonkey · 20/11/2017 07:32

Hugo is lovely.
Julian sounds like a creepy guy everyone would avoid at a party.
Sorrry!

Zaurak · 20/11/2017 07:27

Well it does conjure up a certain ‘Hugo! Mind the aga darling! Don’t singe your organic unicorn hide gloves!’ Kind of image, but overall, not dreadful.

Abetes · 20/11/2017 07:25

I don’t like it. I think it’s a bit wet. But that’s probably from reading too much Enid Blyton.

swansong81 · 20/11/2017 07:19

Julian will get nicknamed to Jules.

All the Julian’s I know are very powerful.

flumpybear · 20/11/2017 07:16

They go well together - but please spell it correctly
