I like it a lot. I know one, aged 18, Irish American, plays bass in a great band.

Our snake is called Emmett, but she's a girl (we were told she was a boy and the name had stuck by the time we found out she was a lady!)

I liked Emmett but for various reasons preferred Emerson - and that is the name of our middle son! Mostly after the poet. Would that be one to consider? Or Edison?

I've never met an Emmett. The name immediately makes me think of Emmett Till which is so devesystingly sad that I couldn't use it.

Emmet is a fairly common name in Ireland.
Robert Emmet was an Irish patriot who rebelled against English rule in 1803 and was hanged.

Love it, I would use it myself if I had a boy. Would have the Emmet variation as a mark of respect for Robert Emmet.

I like it, have known a few fairly well known Irish name due in some part possibly to Robert Emmet an Irish patriot.

I love it but dh vetoed it for ds1. This was pre twilight days and I still bloody love it. Uncommon without being too out there.
