Hugo is lovely! I have Hugo and Hugh on my boys list, not that we're expecting at the moment Blush
Theodore is alright, but very commonly used at the moment. Ted is cute tho, although I'd use Ted as a NN for Edward.
Not very helpful I'm sure.

I guess I just meant that we imagined a certain sort of person (stereotyping, I know!) when we thought of Hugo and it seemed quite a bold choice if it didn't suit him in later life. Although of course the same could probably be said for Theodore.

Of course I don't know the OP though an Hugo might be spot on, just thought I'd share our thought process as we loved that name too!

Theodore is nice but I LOVE Hugo. We toyed with Hugo for DS1 who was born this summer but as previous posters have said, we were worried it might be too posh. We thought it was quite a statement name which he might resent a bit if he doesn't turn out to be your typical Hugo. We went for Hugh instead which we love as well.

Theodore, I like the nickname teddy or toto. Hugo sounds like a name for a dog

Hugo was almost my son's name!

DH loved Theo, I hate it, Theodore shortened to Ted (Ted Theodore Logan, after one of my film heroes) would be acceptable.

Theodore because its my sons name! He's two now and mostly gets called Theo, which he really suits.

Theodore/ Theo/ Teddy is very popular at the moment if that makes a difference to you OP. Personally I prefer Hugo

Theodore is more flexible. Teddy, ted, Toto, Theo, Dora (if they decide to transition).
Hugo only leaves a choice of Hue and Hugo

I don't like Hugo - far too poncey for my personal taste

I vote Theodore, based on it likely being shortened to Theo. I like Theo

They're both good. Hugo sounds posh whereas Theodore sounds kinda steampunk to me. I vote Theodore Smile.
