Amy - yay or nay?

I’m leaning towards more simple names.

I think Amy is a good, solid choice. Hubby not so sure!

Is it a bit boring or old?!

Can I your thoughts?!

It's fine Aimee is preferable though

MollyHuaCha · 20/11/2017 22:36

Lovely name

MikeUniformMike · 20/11/2017 22:29

It's ok (little women) but it gets shortened to Ames, which I dislike.

Llamacorn · 20/11/2017 15:07

I have an Amy, dh picked it. I think it's a sweet name and not too popular. We've spelt it the nice simple way, but still her birthday cards addressed to Aimee, Aymie (!) Ami, Aymi......
She does get nicknamed AJ more often than not by her friends, or Aims for some reason.
Her middle name has a lovely hint to little women too Smile

stonygreysoil · 20/11/2017 15:03

Amy (spelt Amy) is a lovely name

dottypotter · 20/11/2017 11:04

too common wouldn't have it.

NamasteNiki · 20/11/2017 01:47

Great name

RavenWings · 19/11/2017 13:43

Agree with it being a beige name. Bland, boring, inoffensive, one of many.

But nothing really wrong with it as a name - that's why it's so popular. I agree with people saying Aimee is nicer than Amy.

daisypond · 19/11/2017 13:26

It's inoffensive, but boring and bland, forgettable. But it's better than Aimee, which is a bit tacky, unless you actually pronounce it properly the French way.

Bennygoak · 19/11/2017 12:32

Love it. All the Amys I know are awesome. Also, it's a name which works well with virtually any middle name.

OhPoop · 18/11/2017 20:33

Dull? It’s a y pretty name!

outout · 18/11/2017 06:22

It’s dull as fuck.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 18/11/2017 00:13

My sister is Amy, well Aimee and I was always jealous that she got the pretty name.
I'm just boring old Clare

lunabear1 · 17/11/2017 22:46

I like Amy. I prefer Aimi or Aimee as a spelling though!

Mollie85 · 17/11/2017 21:50

It’s a bit beige, but also dependable Grin

areyouanappliance · 16/11/2017 20:16

Aims or aim here too!

icantgetnosleep5 · 16/11/2017 19:30

It is pretty boring IMO , but it's certainly not offensive or cringy and no teacher will make a pre-judgment of it. So, definitely worst names !

Glumglowworm · 16/11/2017 14:58

Yes from me

notafish · 16/11/2017 14:21

Yes - it is nice and all the girls I know called Amy are sweet-natured. It's classic without being too popular.

TurquoiseDress · 16/11/2017 14:17

The French way with accent- Aimée

I used to know a lovely French girl with that name...in French it means to like/love

TurquoiseDress · 16/11/2017 14:15

I prefer the French spelling of Aimee than Amy, but I suppose if you're UK based you'll frequently have to keep correcting it.

WhatKatyDidNotDo · 15/11/2017 16:54

It's not my cup of tea. I find it very blah.

17caterpillars1mouse · 15/11/2017 13:07

Lovely name. I like Aimee best though

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 15/11/2017 10:59

Very nice, spelled Amy, not any other way.

undertheradarplease · 15/11/2017 09:46

My grandmother (aged 90) is called Amy. She's stroppy and bossy brimming with more personality than any other woman I know and I absolutely adore her. The name is a huge yes from me. Just had my 3rd child and I would have loved to use Amy if given a chance.
