When you hear the name Jesse...

Too American? Assume it's a girl?

Can't make my mind up and dp loves it.

I thought boy initially, especially with the spelling and the first face I put to the name was pinkman 😂

All the Jessica’s I know are all jess for short so I didn’t but go straight to ‘girl’.

i would think it was for a boy if it was spelt Jesse, and u had a boy....

Would think it a girl if u had a girl and named her Jessica , Jessie for short.

I think of a cool boy. It is quite American.

I don't think of a girl, because the Jessicas I know are all 'Jess'.

In in the part of the UK I'm from, calling a boy a Jessie/Jessy is a derogatory term for an effeminate, weak, or oversensitive man.

The only Jesse I know is a 4yo girl, but it's a nice name and I think it works for girls and boys

I do like it for a boy but I work with a male Jesse and everyone who calls for him assumes he is a woman before they speak to him

I know it is used as an insult (I have a Glaswegian uncle!) but it's not really used as an insult where were are. It's growing on me slowly haha.

I know one Jesse and 2 Jessie's so heading it out loud I wouldn't assume either way. Seeing it written down I would think boy

Sorry, but it always reminds me of the insult thrown at lads ' dnt b such a jesse'. Hate hearing it , horrid thing to say, but I could never use it as a name as a result

I didn't realise it was in the top 100. I knew it wasn't extremely popular though!

I had said to dp I didn't want a name that ended with an eeeee sound due to the amount of family we have with that ending, but after dp has tried to convince me that randy, chuck, Bruce, Brian and Dave were good name choices I'll relax a bit 😂

I know of a 5yo Jesse. It works well for a boy I think.

I love it. If you’re worried it’s too out there or considered a girl’s name, don’t be. It entered the Top 100 for boys last year. Great name.

I do think seeing it written down makes all the difference, it's really starting to grow on me tbh. We still have time though!

That spelling, American boy. If I heard it so didn;t see the spelling, I would think its a girl in her early teens.

Too many girls are called Jessie, it sounds very feminine and too wet for a boy for me.

I know a few Jessies - girls short for jessica etc.

But I also know 2 male Jesse's aged 15 and 10.

No-one seems to bat an eyelid or think they are female, Jesse is a very very old male name, it came way before jessie did.

It is a Biblical name, father of King David.

I think that as it has its own spelling you should be fine
