We’ve chosen the name for boy! But can’t decide which way round,

Bertie Thomas
Thomas Bertie

We are going to call him Bertie , but thought for later life he might want a more “normal” name! (Well hubby does) lol I love Bertie so happy either way! Xx

Thanks chicken!

Let’s hope so then! As that would make one happy child!

Bertie is going to sound a bit silly regardless of whether it's a first name or a middle name. If you don't like Albert there are lots of alternatives like Athelbert, Ethlebert, Egbert and Robert.

ChickenlessHead · 13/11/2017 09:28

The bus in Thomas is called Bertie. If he goes through a Thomas phase he’ll love his name. My ds was a huge Thomas fan and was very disappointed that he had 2 names that weren’t in Thomas!

tootfox · 13/11/2017 09:19

Not seen Thomas the tank engine , 33 first child!

All decided now thanks 😊

Bertrand Thomas

ChickenlessHead · 13/11/2017 09:01

Are you fans of Thomas the Tank Engine by any chance?

Coastalcommand · 13/11/2017 09:00

I'd put a full name on his birth certificate ( Albert, Bertram et cetera) then you can always call him Bertie. Bertie is cute for a baby but if he goes on to become a lawyer or other professional he may want a full name to use for work.

Kazzawazza69 · 12/11/2017 20:56

Congrats on choosing 2 lovely names! Thomas Bertie ‘flows’ better but I agree with pp’s that if you’re going to call him Bertie you should give him that as a first name.

seven201 · 12/11/2017 20:43

Although I personally prefer Thomas, if you’re going to be calling him Bertie then surely that should be his first name?

Smoliver · 12/11/2017 17:33

Thomas Bertie

Love Robert Thomas or Albert Thomas with Bertie as a nickname

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 12/11/2017 13:30

Robert Thomas is very nice !

Notalitigator · 12/11/2017 12:07

Robert Thomas? He can then have Bertie nn

AutumnalLeaves38 · 12/11/2017 12:00

Crikey. The more you think about it, the options grow:

Hubert, Herbert, Cuthbert, Norbert, Egbert, Engelbert...
(Am not passing judgement, just mentioning them ).

pipilangstrumpf · 12/11/2017 11:52

Bert Thomas

Albert Thomas

Bertrand Thomas

pipilangstrumpf · 12/11/2017 11:51

If he’s going to be Bertie, then put that first on his bc. Nobody uses middle names so they don’t have to sound good together. More important to have a first name you love!

So Bertie Thomas.

ImADingleDangleScarecrow · 12/11/2017 11:51

Albert Thomas with Bertie as a nn would be my choice. From the options you’ve given - Thomas Bertie.

AutumnalLeaves38 · 12/11/2017 11:50

Aargh, sorry, OP...I forgot to refresh the page and X-posted.

Well, whichever way round you go for, I like Bertie!

AutumnalLeaves38 · 12/11/2017 11:48

Bertram Wilberforce Thomas.
Like Bertie Wooster. Grin

If he's going to be "Bertie" (nice, btw) as a standalone rather than a shortening, I don't see why you can't still just use it as his first name...didn't do those on this list any harm.

I vote Bertie Thomas.

tootfox · 12/11/2017 11:35

Not lean on Albert, we don’t have any grandads called that or anything to make us like it,

Hubby likes Thomas Bertie , so that seems to be the favourite , I love any!!

😍!

Thanks for your help xx

Thomas Bertie. Unless the Bertie is going to be short for a name like Albert/Gilbert, etc.

DiegoMadonna · 12/11/2017 11:02

Thomas Bertie

Sophronia · 12/11/2017 10:55
