Names that mean 'light'

Ohmyamy · 09/11/2017 18:20

Because I am the most extra person in the whole world, I want all of my babies names to mean something and then have a common theme as well, so we have an Everly Aurora (northern lights), Orion (star light) Arthur and Aurelia (northern lights again) Rowan. Sooo I need a name that has a light connotation, that also goes with the middle name October :)

I haven't found any that I like! I really need help! It is for a boy but im okay with gender neutral names :) thanks so much!

I was just about to add Lucifer. The light bringer.

CardinalSin · 09/11/2017 20:33

Lucifer...

Ohmyamy · 09/11/2017 20:32

Rowan is her middle name! Aurelia is the light name.

I love Lucian! And Oran too, but maybe the three O's are too much? Our last name is O'Connor Hmm Apollo is great though too

Reuben means ‘behold a son’, could you squint a bit and say ‘behold a sun’?

florascotianew · 09/11/2017 20:24

Sorry to criticise, but 'Ivar' has nothing to do with 'light'. It derives from Norse for 'Yew Tree' combined (perhaps) with a word meaning ''spear-man' or 'warrior'.

In Welsh, Dylan means 'great tide' and in Ireland Dillon (originally Norman French) means something like 'brave as a lion'.

mamamalt · 09/11/2017 19:51

I’m sure I read somewhere Dylan/Dillon means bolt of light in some language. I liked it because of all its meanings x

Oran (Odhran) means 'pale' or 'sallow' in Gaelic, not 'light and bright'. As previous poster has said, that would be 'Solas', and the word is not usually used for personal names.

questionbasket · 09/11/2017 18:43

Erm....I didn't read the last paragraph until after I posted, either. Sorry!
