What do people think of Coco for a girls name? Surname would be McKay.

Thanks!:)

It's a no from.me.

Osullivan · 12/08/2023 00:14

Love it ! If I have another daughter I’m gonna call her Coco 🥰

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 10/08/2023 21:47

I quite like it, but it's the sort of name some people would love having and some would wish for something a bit more mainstream, so I'd probably make it short for something rather than a name in its own right. I've known a Chloe who went by Coco, and I think it could probably be short for anything that begins with "co" or possibly, to stretch a point, even Gabrielle (Coco Chanel's formal name).

daisypond · 09/08/2023 16:23

I quite like it. I know one. She’s in her 20s now.

I know a couple of baby Cocos - one with a very cool set of arty Brighton parents, and one with very posh parents. I think it’s a lovely name and Coco McKay sounds great!

Osullivan · 08/08/2023 23:18

@Snoopy90 Did you call your daughter Coco? Love it 😍

Battleax · 08/11/2017 13:39

If you love it, but are nervous about it, give her (one or) two much more traditional names that start with "Co" so she has that for "best" and just use Coco day to day.

Constance Cora McKay
Cosima Colleen McKay
Coralie Courtney McKay
Corina Comfort McKay

Etc.

Battleax · 08/11/2017 13:32

I think Coco McKay is an amazing name. Very memorable and punchy.

CauliflowerSqueeze · 08/11/2017 06:52

I really like it! Cool but friendly. Smile

AtiaoftheJulii · 08/11/2017 06:49

if you were to use it officially with surname Mckay you would be judged as a family by every professional coming into contact with her files

What the FUCK does this mean?

TaylorTinker · 07/11/2017 20:27

To me it is the nickname for Corinne.

icantgetnosleep5 · 07/11/2017 20:23

i think th two names sound well together, very funky

i personally wdnt want to b called it, and i think its an easy teasing target.. my eldest daughter wouldnt care at all if she had an unusual name and pple commented on it bcos shes uber confident and feisty, my other kids would Die if they had a different name and any1 made a joke about it. id keep it as a middle name / nick name :)

LucieLucie · 07/11/2017 08:57

Coco is a cute nickname but if you were to use it officially with surname Mckay you would be judged as a family by every professional coming into contact with her files.

Why not use a traditional name like Kate or Catherine and use Coco as a nickname?

LinoleumBlownapart · 07/11/2017 00:27

I have a friend with a daughter called Coco, it's ok as a nickname but not a name I really like. That and the way it's pronounced in English is usually awful and makes it sound like Cocô, which is the Portuguese version of caca/poo.

doodle01 · 07/11/2017 00:27

Yep not a professional name for a banker, teacher etc - Brazilian gogo dancer maybe.

Bouncingbelle · 07/11/2017 00:11

I just think she will be called cock-o.

Cock-o mckay Confused

RoderickRules · 07/11/2017 00:07

Mimi nicer with your surname.
Or Kiki.

I think Coco is clunky with McKay.

LemonysSnicket · 07/11/2017 00:07

Open star and I think of that bird from Blues House of Imaginary Friends who just says coco

BackforGood · 07/11/2017 00:01

Don't like it at all for a proper name. Could get away with it as a nickname if you had something else on the birth certificate possibly, to give her a choice later in life.

thiskittenbarks · 06/11/2017 23:50

I know 3 Cocos - all lovely dogs.
It’s also definitely slang for cocaine. There was that song a few years ago “in love with the coco” which was about cocaine and made the term more popular for the drug I think.
But if you like it go for it. Although I think it would be better to go for a name like Chloé with nickname of Coco.

littlechous · 06/11/2017 23:50

I LOVE it, would totally use it myself but our surname would make it sound like a comedy name Hmm

Geegee4 · 06/11/2017 23:48

We have a Coco- again it’s a nickname for a name that starts with a hard C sound. She’s 4 and I don’t think anyone thinks ‘stripper’ when they see her- ridiculous. She’s sweet and funny and suits it so well.

jadekelly · 06/11/2017 23:33

We have a Chloe and her nickname is coco. Only because her little sister couldn't say Chloe.

Couchpotato3 · 06/11/2017 23:16

We have a Coco. She loves her name, and enjoys having an unusual/memorable name. I hesitated but am so glad we went for it. Ignore the silly comments. People say all kinds of stupid things!
