First Names you hate/dislike

What first names do you dislike

I would say
Donald because of Donald Trump

For boys, I don't like most names! We did eventually name our son but his name is quite boring. It suits him though (not because he's boring, it's just quite a traditional but not poncey name.)

I don't like first names as surnames - Mason, Harrison, Taylor

I don't like boring names - James, Oliver, Jack, Harry. Don't like H names for boys or girls as people drop the H. I do actually really like Henry but couldn't cope with Enree.

I like many girls names in contrast. My favourites are Eleanor, Sophia, Flora, Isabella, Jessica, Juliet and Willow.

But I hate pretty much all Welsh names.

Makes me Grin how many names people can roll off that they dislike, like they have it pre-prepared and thought out just incase this question is asked. I really dont understand name bashing threads and what can be gained from it. I don’t hate any names as I can’t be arsed to care

Once, I laughed so much, on the baby board somebody suggested my son's name so as it's unusual for his age group I clicked on it. Another poster had done a whole post of 'nos'. just rows and rows of no no no no no no no. I think it's a great name and I've never met a pretentious, dangerous, dopey, condescending, lazy or hyper man with this name.

To me the most important purpose of a name is to identify its owner!

So I dislike common names like Jack, Harry, Ellie, Evie because they do not serve this purpose. There are far too many of them that these names have become dull and not useful in serving their purpose.

I’m hope the doctors/surgeons I know called Gary and Darren are pleased their names are considered ‘low class’ by some. And since when has Oliver ever been ‘trendy’?

My DDs name has been mentioned and planned name and nn for the baby has too. Oh dear 😂😂

I'm not a fan of double barrelled first names, particularly when they are paired with Leigh/Lee.

Oh another of these threads. They never end well. The dislike for hyphenated names. My name is hyphenated, no middle name. No need to be so rude people.

Since I joined Mumsnet, I’ve become less judgemental about names and actually quite like how there are more and more individual and unique names.

However, I still have names I dislike for no good reason (just that they sound so dirgey and miserable to me):

My names popped up, my sons name usually flies under the radar, but I’m sure you would all hate it :)

Don’t like ‘unique’ spellings or names I can’t pronounce 😂

The only names I really dislike are tacky made up names like Nevaeh “heaven spelt backwards”.

I've never liked Caitlin.

And I don't like "low-class" 60s/70s male names, like Gary, Wayne, Shane, Darren, Derrick, Shannon etc.

I wouldn't say I hate it but I find the name Hannah very difficult to like. This is because it's the name of someone who constantly made me miserable at school. I find the same with the name Keith, who was a seedy boss I despised. However if I met others with these names now I think that the negative association would probably change.

There's only 1 name I truly dislike and it's Violet.Reminds me so much of violence and it's such a harsh sounding name.

Ethel is awful. it was old fashioned even when I was a child. And Toby for a boy I'm not keen on either. Or Paige. I wouldn't care if one of my DC's names appeared on here or mine. It would be a bit mad if everyone picked the same name. Only approved by MN.
