And Marco

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Wow, none of mine, DHs or DDs names have been mentioned! Do I win a prize??

I actually think a lot of the names mentioned above are really beautiful.

pipilangstrumpf · 05/11/2017 10:40

Sorry, their name alone doesn’t identify them!

pipilangstrumpf · 05/11/2017 10:39

Jack, Oliver, Steve, Emma, Olivia, Ellie as I know SO many of them that their name all be doesn’t identify them.

EleanorXx · 05/11/2017 01:55

Erica or Paula

Mrsknackered · 05/11/2017 01:48

I think the first time ever, none of us have been mentioned.

When I first started using MN regularly I did a thread like this, others posters comments offended people and I felt really awful. I didn't mean it to become a 'let's bash names from other cultures thread' and it did. Usually the word 'chav' gets thrown around a fair bit, too.

I have a brother called Kaiden. He's much older than the littler ones and was named for a reason close to my family's heart, so I will always love it (it does stand out against all of our names though)

The only names I can think of right now which I have an irrational dislike of are:

Phoebe
Esmeralda (that is the worst)

Not a fan of Liliana, Eliana, etc.

ABitOTT · 05/11/2017 00:38

My DC & DH's names all on here. Never liked DH's name either & certainly not offended!

Girls names I'm not keen on:
Norah
Morag
Margot
Ethel
Deirdre
Pauline
Basically I dislike girl's names which sound unattractive to my ear.

Boys names:
Keith
Alan
Stephen/Steven
Bernard
Carl
Kenneth
Roger
In fact most names of men aged 35-50 are unattractive to me.

Sophronia · 04/11/2017 23:16

Maddison/Maddie
Ottilie

manicinsomniac · 04/11/2017 22:12

What I find baffling is when people say they hate a really common name because they associate it with a nasty person. I can understand not liking Araminta or Moonshine because there was a horrible girl at school with the name but applying the same logic to Emma or Hannah? Surely there have been several dozen other owners of those names in your lives since then to take the nasty taste away!

Although someone did say all the Hannah's they know are bitches! To be honest, Hannah is one of the names I think are most likely to be lovely people. I know so many wonderful Hannahs. And because I'm really sad and like a good bit of anecdata, I've searched my facebook friends for Hannahs:
12 fabulous Hannahs plus 7 who are averagely nice, normal people. Only 2 who could be termed difficult/acquired tastes etc. Though, to be fair, I suppose I wouldn't have any I really didn't like on facebook so probably not a fair test. I can think of 1 who was awful.

RavenWings · 04/11/2017 20:27

Matilda - have never taught a well behaved Matilda.
Ditto Jude, Ethan, Iris, Annabel.

Names I generally really don't like are Harriet, Elizabeth, Louisa, Athena, Claudia, Tabitha, Felix, Casper, Grainne, Rupert, Montgomery, Magnus, Rowan, Robin/Robyn, Wilfred, Albert, Louis, Ottilie, Henrietta, Flora, Millicent, Ethel...I could go all day!

Rudedog · 04/11/2017 19:51

DDs name is on here
And mine because it's in the top 10 (which I hate)

I don't care because I probably don't like your kids names tbh

I do HATE anything mae and Liberty

Queenofthedrivensnow · 04/11/2017 19:45

Not really names as such but using diminutives as given names - Stacey and not Eustacia that kind of thing.

HollowCity · 04/11/2017 18:48

My least favourites are:
