What first names do you dislike

I would say
Donald because of Donald Trump
And Marco

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I love discussing names and these sort of threads, it's only a bit of fun ... each to their own.

Hate is a strong word, the only names I hate are Wayne and Dwayne!

Names I dislike are:
Ellie
Libby
Tilly
Evie (so so popular where I live)
Lily (was OK, but now SO overused)
Ella
Sienna
Maya
Mya
Mae!! And anything -Mae or hyphen anything really
Gracie (Grace is nicer, Gracie sounds like a nickname)
Maddison and Maddie
Mackenzie!!
Tyler / Tylah !!
Sarah
Louise
Any Irish girls names with very tricky spelling, used by non-Irish families.

Kayden, Jayden etc
Kai
Logan
Regan
Mason
Harrison
Toby
Reuben
Jaxon / Jackson
Taylor
Michael / Mike !!
Tyler
Carter !!
Liam

...but lolz aside, really horrible thread to start.

elQuintoConyo · 06/11/2017 22:45

Gravy.

I mean, who'd do that to a little innocent baby?

NamasteNiki · 06/11/2017 22:34

Abigail.

Cannot stand it

BingBunnyTheBrat · 06/11/2017 18:40

I'm not a fan of 'boring' names like Jack and Amelia. I don't hate them they just don't excite me. I'm also not a fan of 'unique' spellings of names or names such as Neveah. Like I said, don't hate-just not for me.

littlechous · 06/11/2017 17:45

Spudulika

squishee · 06/11/2017 17:33

@ Camper Grin

Both mine and my DSibling's names are here - in the same post.

Pointless thread.

Sooo, which colours do you hate?

midsomermurderess · 06/11/2017 17:14

But, yasmin most names, by their very nature, whether from current cultural influences or by dint of being traditional, are not unique.

Mamabear4180 · 06/11/2017 16:56

Ashtray
Frogmella

yasmin05 · 06/11/2017 07:54

None. I think all names are unique. But I have a lot of favorite names in my book. :)

tinypop4 · 06/11/2017 07:45

Jennifer
Amelia
Arthur

No good reason other than I don't like the way they sound. Wouldn't ever say so to somebody who picked it though.

BingBunnyTheBrat · 06/11/2017 07:36

I have a full house, not bothered at all as there are some names on here I like and some names that MN rave about that I can't stand. The only name I would never, ever use would be Katie-for personal reasons.
I don't see how this thread is any worse than the majority of threads on here. The amount of damn right rude and obnoxious comments I see on threads daily when people ask about certain names I think some of the comments on here are a walk in the park. People either need to get tougher skin or not come on MN🙈

SpareASquare · 06/11/2017 00:18

Dwayne. Dumbest name ever. Pronounced Duh-Wayne in our house.

Anything made up, hyphenated or with a random h or y.
And uneeek spellings.
Destynee
Harryson
Nevaeh
Taylah
Rylee
Zaryn

Just a few of many

Cockmagic · 06/11/2017 00:08

thingymaboob · 05/11/2017 23:05

I really dislike the names Dexter and Darcy. Awful!

AnaWinter · 05/11/2017 22:00

I hate these nasty threads. I am surprised Mumsnet lets them stand.

RickOShay · 05/11/2017 21:49

Panti-jo Grin

xhannahx · 05/11/2017 21:11

DD not dad!

xhannahx · 05/11/2017 21:10

I've never understood why people get so offended by these threads. My dad's name is on here...couldn't care less, we picked it because we liked it, not because anyone else said they did.

Dds name is far from unusual.

Eminybob · 05/11/2017 21:04

Horrible thread and not really “in the spirit of the site” as MNHQ would say.

chocolatelimesaredelicious · 05/11/2017 20:59

Toby-it's so wet! And rather crazily popular around London at the moment.

KeiraC · 05/11/2017 12:03

My daughter is Freya Ophelia Layla and all those names have been mentioned as well as both of my boys, Leon and Louis. TBF I am not in the slightest bit offended. Taste is so subjective. We all like different things and that’s what makes life interesting. There are names I don’t like but none that I hate or feel that strongly about

confused123456 · 05/11/2017 11:20

Wow, my husband, my sister, my mother in law and my father in laws names have all been mentioned.
And the standard hatred for hyphenated names always means I'm mentioned.
At the end of the day, does it matter? We all have different tastes. As long as the name isn't or doesn't mean anything rude or offensive in any way, I don't see the problem. If it's not a name you'd use personally, fine. But there's no need to start a whole thread asking what names people don't like or hate. Many people find it hard enough trying to choose names, and may be on parenting sites such as this for advice. Imagine how they would feel if they saw this? A long list of names that people don't like for some reason. Or say a new parent who was struggling saw the post and the name of their new baby listed? It may upset them as well.
Personally I think these type threads are pointless and very nasty and mean.
