My name has been mentioned along with ds1 and ds2. Dd’s name has kind of been mentioned. Doubt anyone will know ds3’s name well enough to hate it.

I’ve got so used to people saying that as a complete sentence Hotpink that I actually think of the name as Nevaeh-that’s-heaven-spelled-backwards Jane Smith, for example. I’ve heard far worse though, to be fair.

I don't have any great dislikes, but I do think that people should consider the whole name when choosing a first name. For example, I knew a family in Suffolk called Pipe, who named their son Dwayne.

I think Haydn,Jaiden or hyphen mae people think they have to hate that name.Or its too popular.Thats bollix i would pick a name i like over whats popular,or what people think i should call my child.

How many Jayden’s do people met? I’ve never met any. Know one colleague with a son called Hayden but seems unusual and harmless quite like it

I think people generally dislike names after meeting someone they dislike or nasty with that name.

I’m not keen on Wayne or Dwayne. For some reason I cringe when I hear the name Glyn Confused

I have an irrational dislike of names being shortened. Like if someone is called David to me that is their name, not Dave. If they introduce themselves as Dave and sign off emails etc i might just be able to actually no it’s David.

I don’t think I hate any names tbh...

But, I don’t like ‘celebrity inspired’ names, as I think they must be a total arse pain for the dc who have to live with them. “Oh we just LOVE jazz / jimi hendrix / David Bowie, so we had to name our baby [insert name], to honour our hero”. I always wonder if it’s the parents making a statement about their awesome taste in music and drawing attention to themselves; eg David (in honour of David Bowie) won’t do, as it doesn’t get as much attention. It always makes me Hmm, as the child might end up only liking Rachmaninov or something and hating David Bowie. Or the silly parents might name a baby after their hero sleb and then something awful might come out about in the press about the RL sleb and the poor child will be stuck with the really obvious, attention drawing name!

There is a grain of interesting-ness in here though.

I dislike 'een' endings- to me, they sound whiny. So to me, Roisin (which most people would think is a lovely name) is in the same stable as Doreen, Eileen- to most folk theyd be miles apart!

I also dislike the look of Li in a name, somehow looks frilly and silly - is that posdibly because 'silly' has that letter structure? So Lily, Lydia - not keen.

I grew up in the 70s-80s so knew lots of Nicolas - reminded me of Nicotine!

Word associations are funny things.

Really suprised my DS's names are not on here, maybe people aren't just being polite! My names on here, but it's a very typical of its time name, fell of all the statistics after the 80s.

I also dislike a name due to someone who bullied me, but much like my name it was only popular for a few years so don't meet many people anymore with the name and never heard of a baby being named it recently.

Ethel/Bertha/Agnes/Mildred/fanny/Maude/Nancy. Those give me the actual cringe.

I've no idea why - it's no reflection on anyone I have met who has these names, I just don't like the words/letter combinations.
