Aubrey or Arlo?

As a sibling for Ava , Felicity and Rueben ? Middle name would be Francis .

I think Aubrey is cool. Definitely a boy's name. Arlo is so trendy - I know of 3 born in the last year (out of the c.20 babies I know), all in London, all think they've been unique...

I’m amazed to hear that Arlo is so trendy. I only know 2, one is 18yrs and the other 13yrs. They are the only 2 I’ve ever known at our school.

Arlo is a great name.
Aubrey is a boy’s name but best avoided in case your DH spells it wrong when registering and you end up with an Audrey.

I keep hearing how popular Arlo is but I've never met one or heard of one in real life. Maybe it's not reached Up North yet?

Aubrey is going to be my girls name when she finally arrives early next month, it's also my dad's favourite Bread song but I think technically it's an English boys name.

I do like Arlo but think it's quite popular.

I quite like Lenny as a nickname - we did consider Leonard but it’s fairly popular where we live atm

Isn’t Arlo the name of the character in the Good Dinosaur? That film made me bawl my eyes out, DS was mortified!

Def like Arlen for a boy more than Aubrey!

I'd never heard of it myself until last year, when I met a 5 yr old little chap from Cork. He was such a great kid (funny, bright as a button and full of personality) that I associate the name with positive things.

If you like Arlen, there's also Arjen.

It's a Dutch name pronounced "Arr-eee-en", but you could do it phonetically -"Ar-jen"?

From someone who has a gender neutral diminutive of a long name - it's amazingly annoying being addressed as the wrong gender all your life. You get a lot of inappropriately targeted marketing. Dear Mr Lenclos we think you will be very interested in our fishing tackle/motorbikes/penis enlargement etc.

So don't think about what you feel but how he would feel.

Out of the 2 I would say Arlo ,

Ooh I do like Arlen ! I prefer that to Arlo , so I guess it’s between Aubrey and Arlen ! I don’t mind people assuming it’s a girls name because I know it’s a boys name . But I could imagine it being frustrating for him growing up if he is mistaken for a girl regularly

I really like both and, although I know Arlo is becoming more popular, I have never yet met one. Aubrey is top 10 in the US for girls but I think it rare for both girls and boys in the UK. I've never met one.

I would assume an Aubrey over approx. 45 to be a man and one under approx 45 to be a woman.

I think I'd choose Arlo for a boy. I love Aubrey as a girl's name though.

Really like PP's suggestion of Arlen; never heard it before but it's lovely.

How about:
Adrian, Asher, Milo, Nico, Orson, Patrick, Vincent, Micah, Elliot, Jeremy

I am non judgemental when it comes to baby names but my OH has hated his name all his life. He too was called Strawberry. Bless him

As far as Bread were concerned, Aubrey was a girls name....

But I prefer it to Arlo.
