Lilla

We are a German/ English Family and don’t want to always be correcting people with pronunciation but love the name...

Thanks! Grin

Lilla would rhyme with Camilla.

Leela would be the lee-la pronunciation.

Lila or Lyla would be the ly-la pronunciation.

Alisvolatpropiis · 23/10/2017 22:00

I’d assume Lee-la

chocoholic83 · 22/10/2017 13:33

Lil-uh (to rhyme with camilla) is still similar to lee-lah if I’m reading/ saying them correctly just not a long e sound, I’m still happy with that...

if everyone had said Ly-la then we would be rethinking names... Luna is also a possibility!!!

Lill-ah

DiegoMadonna · 22/10/2017 12:49

Lil-uh to rhyme with Camilla for me too. I wouldn't pronounce it Lee-luh because of the double L.

KoalaD · 22/10/2017 11:31

I'd say Lilla to rhyme with filler

Sophronia · 22/10/2017 10:49

I would have guessed Lee-lah (I don't speak a word of German except the swear words my Austrian friend taught me).

chocoholic83 · 22/10/2017 08:41

Thanks so much for all the quick responses, and I hoped the double L would help which I think it does...

in German it is pronounced Lee-lah and I think the majority of people have said the same, and as we live in Germany and just come back to England a lot I think we’re going to go with it 😬 fingers crossed she doesn’t hate us for it when she’s older 😂

AnotherRoadsideAttraction · 22/10/2017 08:23

*Lil-la as in rhymes with Camilla

nodogsinthebedroom · 22/10/2017 08:21

If I had to guess - Lee-la. But I'd probably ask first as I'd be really unsure!

user1499786242 · 22/10/2017 08:21

Lie-la

MoanerChopsis · 22/10/2017 08:18

I would assume 'lil-lah', rather than li-lah, due to the double 'l' in the middle

iBiscuit · 22/10/2017 08:18

Ly-la.

AnotherRoadsideAttraction · 22/10/2017 08:17

Lil-la

Scarydinosaurs · 22/10/2017 08:16

Lee-la

RoganJosh · 22/10/2017 08:15

Li-la

The i would be as in 'it'.
