Is Wyn a Welsh name ?

I am looking for a short Welsh boys name that is said how it's spelt ( as I live in England) Is Wyn a actual Welsh name as I like it a lot ?

I know a Welsh Wyn in England. Owen & Rhys are other Welsh names which seem quite common in England.

Socks that's good to know ! I don't know why, but I feel like having one son with a short name means I have to give the next one a short name too. Maybe I'm over thinking this?!

Aunt those are proper Welsh names everyone here would calling him Ian toe rather than 'yanto' around here.

I like Dewi a lot, but my DH doesn't like it. He says the name was a character on an American comedy about a kid. I don't know which one.

Macsen - Macs for short
I've always loved Gruff too.

I don't like Wyn personally, although I can't put my finger on why - bit old mannish maybe? Although I do know a baby Wyn.

The only Wyn I know is Welsh, living in England. The nicest guy you could meet :)

It sounds lovely welsh name see famous singer Bryn Terfel! Wyn also means pure/white so always meanings.

I have a Gwilym and we don't live anywhere near Wales. Everyone copes just fine.

Ok great yes up for other suggestions. We have a DS already so his name is already mentioned.

I strangely like Gwilym but we are far from Wales and I get some weird looks when I say my current DS' name already.

I'm not keen on Cai as have a couple of friends already with sons with the name (but I didn't realise it was WelshI

Quite like Elis but is this a girls name now ?

Is Bryn an actual Welsh name?

It's a lovely sounding word, but isn't it the Welsh for hill, and a word that has been adopted by the English as a "Welsh" name in recent years?

Or did I imagine that?!
