What does everyone think of Amber as a girl’s name?

I think it is very pretty, maybe every so slightly hippyish/"rock star's daughter" but has been popular for long enough now that it's beginning to seem more mainstream. I also really love amber the stone and the colour, so it's full of good associations for me.

Sorry Sonyaya. It is actually a lovely name. And those connotations are from about 30 years ago (when phone boxes still existed).

I like I but DH said it was a stripper name along with the likes of Jasmine and Chloe.

I work with a lot of Italians and the Italian version is Ambra which I love too.

Amber is nice. I also really like Ambreen (Arabic and Urdu), and Anbarin (Persian and Arabic).

Thanks all - interesting! Husband doesn’t like it because he says it is stripper. Maybe he has a point!

Also, Ruby was my other name Confused

DM used to work in a school in a red light district. Ruby, Amber and Jade were very common names on the cards in telephone boxes there.

I'm not mad keen tbh - not sure why. Now because of Amber Rudd but I didn't like it before that.
I know one aged 4 and one aged 2 and it's their name and they are lovely so nothing specific explain why I feel like it.

I automatically think stripper name although I don't actually think that it's a stripper name but in most American things shows etc that seems to be the connotation
