Just that really? I want a lovely name but I would rather they not be one of 4 in their class as I was! DH and I both agree on these names although I think I’m swaying more towards Norah.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I know one Lydia in her early 20s. I don't know any Norah's though.

Normandy144 · 05/10/2017 21:25

I love the name Lydia and there is one in my daughters class (aged 4). Not come across a Norah, although I know an adult Nara. I have a Claudia which to my ear is very similar to Lydia and we have never met another child called Claudia.

Hulababy · 05/10/2017 21:15

1 x Norah, aged 4y
Know of maybe half a dozen girls called Lydia - ages range from 7y to 16y

LuxuryWoman2017 · 05/10/2017 21:08

Not keen on Norah, I think it sounds a little harsh but Lydia I love. It's elegant, phonetically pleasing and looks nice written - Yep, Lydia.
Someone called Lydia could do anything.

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 05/10/2017 21:05

I own a 13yo Lydia, but she's the only one I know. There isn't another one in her current school (that's she's aware of anyway) and there was only ever 1 other in Primary School, who was a few years above her.

Happyperson123 · 05/10/2017 20:55

Oh sorry but I always think of Norah Batty when I hear the name Norah.

whiteroseredrose · 05/10/2017 20:50

Norah one 90-something neighbour.

Lydia, one 21 and one 14. Lovely name

Dauphinois · 05/10/2017 20:40

One of each , both under 10.

MadameJosephine · 05/10/2017 20:39

I know 2 little girls named Lydia, I’m not keen on the name myself and for some reason it always reminds me of labia Blush

Norah is a gorgeous name and I’ve never come across one yet, I’d go with this one if I was you

Rheged · 05/10/2017 20:13

I know a Lydia in her 20s and a Norah who is 6.

badg3r · 05/10/2017 20:11

1 Lydia (30 yo) no Norahs. Love Norah, was on our list for a girl was Also considering it as NN for Eleanor but told off here Wink

yellowplumpreserves · 05/10/2017 20:05

I know one Nora who is about 70.

My SIL is a Lydia (mid-30s).

My DD aged 7 has Lydia as a middle name and I know one other Lydia aged 9.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 05/10/2017 20:03

One of each.
Funny how the people you know with certain names colour how you regard those names. Lydia was beautiful, tall, rich. And a total cow, to everyone. So I really dislike that name now. Norah was a name from my Nan’s generation and I didn’t like it at all. But the Norah I knew was, unlike Lydia, interesting looking shall we say, and was the most lovely, kind and generous person I’d met in a long time. So now the name Norah has lovely connotations for me and I really like it. Lydia would be in her forties now and Norah probably late sixties, don’t know any younger versions amongst my Dds friends.

Bobbybobbins · 05/10/2017 20:02

Really like both of these!

Undercoverbanana · 05/10/2017 20:02

Norah - 0
Lydia - 4 - aged 19, 10 and 2 toddlers.

Flatbum · 05/10/2017 20:01

NORAH ALL THE WAY. I detest lydia. The name. The people names lydia ive met in life. Eugh. Sorry not sorryGrin

ApocalypseNowt · 05/10/2017 20:01

I know 2 Lydia's and have heard the name around a bit. I'm surprised it's only at 100 but you do find a lot of regional variations in 'popular' names.

Don't know any Noras.

MrsMoggy · 05/10/2017 19:59

One Nora, but she's my cat!

Pemba · 05/10/2017 19:59

It's becoming an outdated cultural reference now I suppose, but I immediately think of Norah Batty from the old sitcom 'Last of the Summer Wine'. Her of the wrinkly stockings.

Norah Jones is gorgeous though.

Lydia is lovely, there are a few around but I don't think it's mega popular.

Tilapia · 05/10/2017 19:59

Norah - none
Lydia - one (age 4)

I much prefer Lydia

SumAndSubstance · 05/10/2017 19:59

None!

Yika · 05/10/2017 19:59

One Nora around 40 yo; one Lidia around 50 yo.

DumbledoresApprentice · 05/10/2017 19:57

A few Norahs or Noras (all teens) but no Lydias.

Fekko · 05/10/2017 19:56

One of each. Norah did not like her name!

LucieLucie · 05/10/2017 19:55

My friend has just given birth and named the baby Norah.

I don’t know any Lydia’s but I love this name
