Just that really? I want a lovely name but I would rather they not be one of 4 in their class as I was! DH and I both agree on these names although I think I’m swaying more towards Norah.

3 Lydias, 2 late thirties and 1 5 year old

0 Norahs

BlackberryandNettle · 07/10/2017 23:05

I don't know any of either name

Mrsknackered · 07/10/2017 18:29

One little Lydia. No Nora's, I know 2 - one in her 20's and one in early teens.

flowerygirl · 07/10/2017 14:14

I knew one Lydia at uni and one now who is 2.

I know one 8 yr old Norah personally but have heard of a few babies locally.

FloraAnnie · 07/10/2017 09:08

0 Norahs
2 Lydias (1 adult, one toddler)

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 06/10/2017 13:42

I love the name Lydia for its sound, but the fictional Lydia that introduced me to it, in a Noel Streatfeild book, is a total primadonna. Then of course you have Lydia Bennett. And both the adult Lydias I know are on the high maintenance side. So all that puts me off it, irrationally.

Coey2016 · 06/10/2017 13:37

0 Norahs
2 Lydias - both in their 30s.

I prefer Lydia.

WyfOfBathe · 06/10/2017 11:44

I know two Lydias - one in her 20s and one 6 year old

I know one teenage Nora but no Norahs.

RavingRoo · 06/10/2017 11:40

Lots of both. Quite common in my Indian and middle eastern circles.

tehmina23 · 06/10/2017 11:36

Norah reminds me of the singer Norah Jones who is very pretty, but the only real life Norah / Nora I met was a 90 something resident at a care home

firawla · 06/10/2017 11:35

I know one Lydia who’s 5, and used to know one who must be about 28 now

I know a Nora about 30 and a Noora who’s a baby (actually my dd!) but none with the Norah spelling. Also know of a Noura, must be about 6? Also know a Noreen who’s about 80+!

Most of the Nora / Noora I come across are Muslim (it’s a popular Arabic name as well) I haven’t come across any English Norah so far, I’ve seen it’s gaining more popularity in the name ranks though

Lydia and Norah are both really nice!

tehmina23 · 06/10/2017 11:33

I know a Lydia aged 23, she's a primary school teacher but looks like a model with a lovely personality too.. I would consider the name as she is so nice.

burninghigh · 06/10/2017 11:28

I know 2 adult Lydia's. No child ones.

yasmin05 · 06/10/2017 11:24

None actually but I like Nora! :)

Ginandplatonic · 06/10/2017 11:22

One Nora, 50s. No Norahs. Two Lydias both late teens/early 20s.

TheWoollybacksWife · 06/10/2017 11:19

2 Norah's - one aged 11 and one adult in her early 60's.

One Lydia in her late teens.

Both lovely names but I think I prefer Norah.

Roomba · 06/10/2017 11:11

No Norahs. I did have a great Aunt Norah but she died over 30 years ago.

One Lydia - she is mid 50s I'd day. The name makes me think of that woman in Breaking Bad.

IJustGotHitByADeer · 06/10/2017 11:03

1 Lydia, mid-twenties - genuinely one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, DH and I are already considering her for godmother if we do manage to get pregnant

No Norahs or Noras but I do know a Nola who is about 10. That probably doesn’t help much.

early30smum · 06/10/2017 10:53

None! Both lovely names.

Sequence · 06/10/2017 10:51

One teenage Lydia and have only met a Norah (middle aged) once in my life.

LadyWithLapdog · 06/10/2017 10:50

I love Lydia.

Love for Lydia is on BBC iplayer at the moment www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007ncy6

MaroonPencil · 06/10/2017 10:45

None of either at the moment, although I did know a young woman called Lydia when she was around 14, she'd be about 30 now. I thought then what a pretty name it is.
