I don't particularly like either, but Fern is the better of the two.

Violet is lovely and traditional. Rose or Lily would be fitting for her sister.

I know a Fearne that has a sister called Tarn. Never heard anyone else with that name either :)

Autumn is pleasant-sounding too, but while it is the 'season .... of mellow fruitfulness ' its also the season of mists (and storms). The end of summer.

Fern is lovely. As long as you don't mess about with it & spell it Ferne or, even worse, Fearne. Just Fern is perfect.

I'm not mad on Autumn as a name.
