Does everyone instantly think of Madeline McCann when hearing the name Madeline? And is that a bad thing?
My husband really likes the name Maddie, and it is growing on me but it feels more like a nickname...

I think it's only bad if it bothers you. It was my first choice name but my husband said it always makes him think of Maddie McCann and that put him off. I didn't push it because I don't think it's fair to give his daughter a name that reminds him of something awful.

Yes, think of McCann but it is really cute. Once she is named people will forget the name association.
