Alternatives to Billie Rae?

InRainbows · 01/10/2017 09:25

My surname is King and for years I have loved the idea of Billie Rae King for a girl.

Only problem - OH likes Billie but has vitoed Rae 😶 I did think about Billie Rose as an alternative but I don't think it flows as well.

Let me know your thoughts?

SnotGoblin - No, North West England. But maybe she went a long, long way away! Grin

SnotGoblin · 05/10/2017 13:05

@manicinsomniac if you went to school in Australia, I bemiebe I know where your Billy-Jo went as one joined my high school. It was (& still is) such an incongruous name for suburban Australia.

Evelynismyspyname · 05/10/2017 12:54

Belinda Rachel - then you can shorten it to Billie Rae but not commit to that quite Marmite choice!

But I think this is a tongue in cheek thread Wink

ReggaetonLente · 05/10/2017 12:54

Billie Ruth King is lovely.

I know two female Billies, both lovely women and very successful career wise. So the name has good associations for me!

MargaretRiver · 05/10/2017 12:53

Billie- Jean
( is not my lover)

Sandsunsea · 05/10/2017 12:50

I'd swap the billie for Millie
Millie Rae King- sorted.

Burger.

FizzyGreenWater · 05/10/2017 12:44

Billie is lovely (please keep it as a middle name, Billie is best on its own)

It should be one syllable, ir LOTS of syllables

Billie Blythe
Billie Rose
Billie Ruth
Billie Josephine
Billie Rosalind
Billie Cassandra

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 05/10/2017 07:40

Oh I hadn't made the King Billie connection! If she ever travels to NI (or parts of Scotland I think?), that could sound a bit political.

thegreylady · 04/10/2017 23:11

Billy Joe McAllister jumped off the Tallahassee Bridge...

manicinsomniac · 04/10/2017 21:10

I went to school with a Billie-Jo. She joined mid year for about 2 weeks then disappeared again. I've always wondered what happened to her.

AnotherLegoBrick · 04/10/2017 06:49

I hope she's good at tennis...

BenLui · 02/10/2017 21:27

She’ll be King Billie on the register...

In some parts of the UK that might be problematic.

InRainbows · 02/10/2017 21:25

Yes @FindTheLightSwitchDarren my OH thinks of Billy Rae Cyrus! I do like Willow it's a cute name 😍

Thank you for your help with this everyone! I have plenty of options now!

Yay! I love this game too OP.
Also am liking Flora or Florence today too Smile

whyareusernamessodifficult · 01/10/2017 21:31

Quite like pp’s suggestion of Billie Ruth

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 01/10/2017 14:08

Also "Billy ray was a preacher's son...".

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 01/10/2017 13:54

Rachel is nice. Billie Rae made me immediately think "Cyrus", which makes me think of a man with a mullet.

Billie Rachel? Or Willa / Willow Rachel maybe? Willa / Willow have a similar sound as Billie to me and could arguable be Billie as a nn?

Do you think the reason you like Billie Rae so much is maybe because it's familiar? Billy Ray Cyrus is maybe a familiar name even if you didn't immediately think of the man.

MikeUniformMike · 01/10/2017 13:15

I know a Rachel who is called Rae, and it's nice, but Rae as a middle name is a bit hmm.

countycouncil · 01/10/2017 12:39

Where has the 'Rae' name come from all of a sudden. I know of three women in the last month who've used it as a middle name. Is it the new Mae?

InRainbows · 01/10/2017 12:34

Wow, I can't thank you all enjoy for your suggestions! I've had a bad night sleep so seeing these responses after my boiled eggs and soldiers has cheered me up no end!

I'm grateful to those with a strong aversion to Billie Rae, @NotAgainYoday @Francis Crawford I wouldn't want to go with a name that prompted such a strong reaction with so many!

@StinkPickle - I really like your suggestion of Jane King, it's very cute and I feel it sounds quite proper!

@GreenRut - I think just Billie King has its Merritt, at first it sounded wierd to me but yes I think I am warming to the idea of dropping off the double barrell!

@LovelyJubilly the Raking thing had crossed my mind! It's an ongoing problem with the surname King ...JoKING LeeKING MaeKING even LionKING is very much out of the question!

@Sugarpiehoneyeye Billie Sue is super cute thank you but I think my OH is too jaded by Billie Rae to like Billie Sue!

@AgSiopadoireachtAris Thank you so much for all of your suggestions I love Lorelei and have added this to my master list it's a beautiful name! You and @Smoliver were spot on with Billie Meave as well I love it! You should both team up and do this for a living! And as @OyyVeyy also suggests Billie Delilah King is just lovely! I also like Billie Paloma King!

Keep the suggestions coming I love this game 😂

Smoliver · 01/10/2017 11:49

Billie Rose sounds nice.

You could also have...

Billie Hope
Billie Reina
Billie Rosa
Billie Rosita
Billie Mae
Billie Faye
Billie Jade
Billie Maeve
Billie Regina (Regina means queen - thought it'd go well with the surname Grin)

pipilangstrumpf · 01/10/2017 10:59

Billie Rose sounds nice

OyyVeyy · 01/10/2017 10:46

Rose is good too.
