Well. Condoleeza Rice never let HER name hold her back.
I read somewhere that the registrar copied down "Con Dolcezza" wrongly on her birth certificate.
And the parents just went along with it??

Also thankful for meanings - my full name ( Christian, middle and surname) means wisdom of the elves of the forest. Parents didnt mean to and it’s a mix of languages but I love this meaning.

BeatriceBeaudelaire · 05/10/2017 19:37

Ooh or Clementine, just gorgeous

BeatriceBeaudelaire · 05/10/2017 19:36

Violet or Rose ...

My name has been mentioned several times and I’m not a fan but this has made me reconsider my own name and frankly it is lovely. Very very touched that so many think it’s beautiful.

bananapuddles · 05/10/2017 18:58

Calliope and Juniper are the most beautiful to me, husband vetoed both :(

Olivelor · 05/10/2017 18:55

I really like Selena. and also Enola from Waterworld film.

I mean names that aren't particularly 'feminine' in a traditional sense although they do appear just the once on this thread. I wanted them to be in any situation - Prime Minister, Dancer, Cleaner, Doctor - and not worry that their name might hold them back or be pre-conceived as meaning something. As I said IMO - there is an interesting article in the Freakonomics book about names and how they can shape your life.

CathyMedici · 05/10/2017 16:42

What exactly is a 'strong' name? Tyson? Atlas? Samson?

GuestWW · 05/10/2017 13:42

I deliberately chose 'strong' names not 'beautiful' names for my DDs, well IMO anyway.

I would avoid anything that involves introducing yourself and then having to clarify with pronounced x or spelled y since everyone will always ignore you.

Pigflewpast · 05/10/2017 11:41

Rosanna

Lemonnaise · 05/10/2017 11:30

Annalise, Jenna, Alicia.

So happy to see both my own name and my DDs name on here, we never make nice name listsGrin.
