As title says - boys name has been sorted for ages and life will be so much easier if baby is a boy!
As it stands our 2 front runners for girls are:
Alexandra Emily
Florence Emily

Surname is one syllable.
Any preferences or do you think we’ll just know when we see her (if it is a her!)

I like both names. However with Emily as middle name I'd go with Alexandra, because Florence Emily almost sounds like semolina in the middle.

Parker231 · 27/09/2017 11:18

We have an Alexandra but always known as Lexi.

daisypond · 27/09/2017 11:16

I like them both. I know lots of teenage Alexandras, though, which makes it a bit meh for me, though I still think it's nice. I actually don't know any Florences, so that sounds fresher to me, although I'm told it's very common now.

NikiBabe · 27/09/2017 10:40

Alexandra..

Florence is over used and the nn's are potentially Flo, Florrie, Flossie.....Alex as a nn is better than those.

jazzytracey10 · 27/09/2017 08:47

Alexandra Emily is so much better their are 6 Florence's in my son's nursery. It's a nice name but is way over used.

ABCFamily · 27/09/2017 08:40

Alexandra by miles. Really don't understand the popularity of Florence.

I agree that Alexandra is likely to get shortened to Alex, but Xan is my favourite nickname.

17caterpillars1mouse · 27/09/2017 08:06

Both are lovely. I'd go with Alexandra just because it's less used currently (Florence was no.20 last year I think). Unless your planning on using Lexi, if that is the case then Florence all the way

Happinesssssss · 27/09/2017 06:28

I've always liked Alexandra and have only ever met one (teenager)

Presh88 · 27/09/2017 06:26

Thanks all - definitely leaning towards Alexandra here.
I actually really like Alex as a nn (probably more than Lexi/Lexa) so that doesn’t worry me

Alexandra. I knew a truly beautiful Alexandra so maybe I'm biased but Florence feels so trendy

Sophronia · 26/09/2017 23:41

Alexandra

Pemba · 26/09/2017 23:16

I really like Alexandra (and Emily). Florence is overrated IMO.

bridgetreilly · 26/09/2017 22:59

There are loads of ways to shorten Alexandra, not just Alex:
Alexa (probably not in an Amazon house!)
Lex
Lexa
Lexi
Sandy
Sandra

Having said that, I think I still prefer Florence.

Mrsknackered · 26/09/2017 22:54

I like both but Alexandra more

igotyoubabe · 26/09/2017 22:33

Do you like Alex? Because that is what it will inevitably be shortened to.. Florence is very pretty. Alex not so much and people will get lazy saying her full name. They always do with long frilly names.

FindTheLightSwitchDarren · 26/09/2017 22:14

Alexandra gets my vote. I like Florence too though.

Lemondrop99 · 26/09/2017 22:09

Alexandra. It's classic and underused

Florence is also nice but it's a bit "on trend" at the moment

Tealdeal747 · 26/09/2017 21:59

Alexandra

mummytwoh · 26/09/2017 21:59

Florence is just beautiful.
I think when she's born you'l know which is her name so don't worry x

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 26/09/2017 21:38

Alexandra is lovely !

Smoliver · 26/09/2017 21:34

Presh88 I'm sure when you see her, you'll know Smile

Presh88 · 26/09/2017 21:32

Thanks all Smile Alexandra is my preferred choice too I think I’m just struggling to picture her! Not too long to find out now hopefully!

Love Alexandra, its classic, will never date and has lots of alternative shortened versions she can choose as she gets older. Cute on a little one but classy as she gets older. Florence will date again and Flo is just awful.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/09/2017 21:27

Alexandra is gorgeous. Florence is well and truly over done, now

Shylo · 26/09/2017 21:27

I think you'll know when you see her :) good luck OP!
