She’d be Mellie a lot too... is Mellow too hippy?! Second name begins with M so love the flow...

I know a Meli (not a nickname).

Pooshweens · 26/09/2017 15:03

Marley

OliviaStabler · 26/09/2017 13:44

I've heard worse names.

But probably not that many.

Figgygal · 26/09/2017 13:25

but that is not a unique name it is a random fucking word why not call your child Kettle or Shoe?

And if you are so set on being young and cool and want to saddle your poor child with a ridiculous name that will end up with them being taken the piss of for the rest of their lives and other parents think you a try to hard knobhead you will really need to grow a thicker skin than you clearly have.

PhuntSox · 26/09/2017 13:15

Amelie (Mellie)

gunsandbanjos · 26/09/2017 13:02

Thank you to those who enlightened me about Mellie Grant.
Melody is a beautiful name.

SilverySurfer · 26/09/2017 11:59

Oh lovely, a flouncer. Mellow is not a name and if it was it's still horrible.
I think the OP is looking for a 'yoonique' rather than unique name - big difference.

MammieBear · 26/09/2017 10:42

It's unusual I'll give it that! I think Mel as Nn brings it back down to earth if she wanted you might like Meadow as well.

Cupcakey · 26/09/2017 10:41

Posted before I read OP's update. Don't ask for an opinion then be stroppy when people give you a reply you don't like.
The world is a big place not everyone will agree with you! That's life! That's individuality!!!!!

Cupcakey · 26/09/2017 10:37

How about Meryl? Not many of those about.
I'm sorry but Mellow isn't even a name is it?? x

user1500124076 · 26/09/2017 10:37

Lmao at the overdramatic flailing flounce Grin

bigfatbumfreak · 26/09/2017 10:28

Your having a person, that person will become an adult. Mellow...good grief.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 26/09/2017 10:13

Melissa
Mirabelle
Maraya
Marcie
Magda
Marta
Miriam
Miranda

Smoliver · 26/09/2017 10:08

I've heard worse names. Go for it if you like it. She can always shorten it to Mel or have a nickname if she wants to.

I also saw that you like the names Molly and Georgie. I think they'd be fine as girls names, but I understand wanting a unique name.

Other alternatives...

Milla
Mila
Melanie
Mena
Melody
Melodia

TheLegendOfBeans · 26/09/2017 10:03

Maybe put the word "Mellow" into a Thesaurus and see if it gives you an alternative "name"?

I see the point about "what makes a name" but I'm unlikely to call my baby "Chilled" or "Laidback".

DiscoDiva70 · 26/09/2017 09:58

OP
Seriously, you'll scar a child for life giving her a 'name' like this. Can you imagine someone greeting her with a common every day word like hello?

"Hello Mellow" ..... awkward Hmm

WindwardCircle · 26/09/2017 09:54

Im sure the op is long gone, but speaking as someone with a 'Mel' name if you nn your child Mellie they will become smelly Mellie. I'm 45 and my family still call me Smelly or Smell, my nieces and nephews call me auntie smell Grin .

Someone suggested Mallory, I love that, and Mally doesn't rhyme with anything negative.

ALittleMop · 26/09/2017 09:54

She'd get called Mel
Like all Melanies are, and end up bog standarding it to avoid the funny looks.

Melissa? (bit fussy for you maybe)
Mindy
Margot
Merle

Jooni · 26/09/2017 09:44

Ooh and Mugwump!

Jooni · 26/09/2017 09:43

Oh my. Sorry OP but you did ask! And your description of yourself as "young, quirky, individual" is bound to get Hmm

I think the OP has left but if anyone else fancies a kooky M name that expresses their unbridled individuality, I've come up with:

Minnow
Minuet
Marmite
Moxie
Morocco
Molasses
Margarine
Magazine
Mississippi
Murmer
Marbella
Marseilles
Muslin
Mobilo
Meadowlark
Mensa

PandorasXbox · 26/09/2017 09:31

Mellow?

Get out of town.

Needalifeoverhaul · 26/09/2017 09:27

Ooh I love the suggestion from pp of Misty! OP, I hope you're still around. There have been some lovely suggestions on here namewise. Criticism is horrible but at the end of the day it is only people voicing their honest opinions so don't take it personally. Flowers

Babymamamama · 26/09/2017 09:27

Not keen at all - makes me think of mellow yellow I think it was an old coffee brand. Can I offer an alternative: Meadow. Always loved that name I heard it first on The Sopranos. Tony's daughter. Still miss that show!

lovelyupnorth · 26/09/2017 09:24

Just see you in Asda - yelling - Mellow - please Mellow Down, Mellie please put that down....

this has to be a WTF name
