I think it's a nice name, although it does have some posh connotations. I like the name Hugh but am always put off by the fact it contains the word ugh - although pronounced differently.

I had a terrapin called Hugo. He wasn't fat. Or posh. Or remotely entitled. He was a fabulous terrapin. So I like the name. *RIP Hugo the terrapin. 🐢

My son's uncle is Hugo. He is all the things ops have said, entitled, grumpy and posh but poor.

I just think a adorable toddler name! I think the posh / entitled image is out of date now. Just like Arthur was a dirty old man a few years back and is now just a lovely fresh and popular baby name. I imagine a Hugo to be blonde too for some down reason? (We would have called DS 3 this had it not rhymed with our daughters name.)

Jago is similar. Pronounced Jaygo. Cornish for James. Then there's milo of course.

I'm undecided about Hugo. I like the name itself, esp the meaning "mind, heart and spirit", and it works internationally.

I know one adult Hugo (late 30s), who is about as far from the stereotype as it's possible to be, and has the sharpest sense of humour ever. Have occasionally come across the 'old money/ family connections/ traditional' kind of Hugo, but wouldn't pre-judge before getting to know them better.

No little Hugos around here, but several Hughs.

My dog is called Hugo so I love it. I have a friend who named her son it though and whenever we’re together and someone asks ‘How’s Hugo’ I’m like oh he’s great!!... oh yeah... baby not dog my bad!’

I have a Hugo! We're not trying to be posh and he isn't fat or chinless. It's a French name (DH is French)

He mostly gets called Hugs or Huggsy
