Definitely Oliver!

I don't mind Finn but fwiw I know way more Finns/Finlays/Finleys...it seems very faddy/"in" at the moment so I think it will date whereas Oliver has been in the Top 100 for years...

They’re both really popular. But if I had to choose, then Oliver. (Finn is someone from Finland 🇫🇮 imo).

We have a just Finn who we often call Finnbar too. No other Finns or Finlays etc in his school, always see on here how over used it is, but not near us. I do really like Oliver too, but Finn is an awesome name.

I have a Finn and I still love the name! I don't come across many (except a few Finley's). We are just Finn but we often call him Finnbar for some strange reason!

My nephew is Finn OP. Was just illustrating to a pp that it's not just short for Finley.

Both fantastic names. There are 4 Finns in my son's school which I find incredible.

Oliver Daniel is lovely!
I actually know more Finns than Olivers and I have 2 school Age boys.
And to pp - Olly isn't a crap name at all!

I prefer Oliver. I find Finn a bit harsh sounding. Both are fairly well used where I live so don't see popularity as a reason not to use either of them iyswim.

Finn isn't a contraction. It's from Gaelic meaning "fair". Finley is a compound name derived from Finn and means "fair warrior".

Finn McCool is a famous Finn from Old Irish legend.
