Thoughts on Amelie?

I love love love this name however is it too close to Amelia? I think it sounds lovely but wouldn't want her to spend her whole life being confused with Amelia, especially as Amelia is so popular. Opinions and any suggestions welcome!

I love it and have for a long time. However it is very popular at the moment so if that would put you off eg. if you thought it was a bit more unusual.

What about Elodie? (Also French but less used over here).

I like it, but the Amelia / Millie / Ella / Ellie / Emily / variations on a theme are SO popular at the moment that would put me off.

Its heyday was around 8-10 years ago, so you're unlikely to come across that many baby Amelies now. But the main problem is Amelia being the number one/two name for the last few years. People will confuse Amelie with Amelia. But y'know, you can correct them!

My DD has a name that's similar to Ava. She gets called Ava from time to time, because Ava is so popular and that's what people are used to hearing. But it's not a massive problem.

It's a fairly run of the mill name round my way. Not easily confused with Amelia as the pronunciation differs. Choose it if you like it but I wouldn't say it's unusual.

Amelie is in the top 100 named so pretty popular in its own right. I don't imagine it people will find it that hard to pronounce or remember. It's pretty.

I have an Amelie, so far everyone has 'got' her name and she hasn't been called Amelia or Emily. She is 2 now. I think if you like the name, you should go for it.

Lovely name. It's my dog's name (rescue, came with the dog) no one gets it right ever. People may make more of an effort for a child but I get 'what's her name" "Amelie" "Emily?" "no, Amelie" "whatever"

I think Amelie can be confused with many things, Amelia, Emily etc and even less common names like Annelie, but with that said I think it's a beautiful name Smile
