Sounds villainous to me.

I think Silas was the villain in Heroes.

Sophronia · 23/09/2017 08:11

I really like it. Makes me think of Silas Marner too.

MercianQueen · 22/09/2017 23:27

The first pig to fly 🐷

HappyLollipop · 22/09/2017 23:24

I love Silas, I knew a guy at college with the name and we still talk from time to time, hes such a sweetheart that it still makes me smile when I hear the name.

Mwnci123 · 22/09/2017 23:14

I like it. Silas Marner is my association too- I didn't think silage, and I am blessedly ignorant of the goings on in Hollyoaks.

FleurWeasley · 22/09/2017 22:17

I know two

Justonemorepleasethen · 22/09/2017 20:20

Serial killer

LynetteScavo · 22/09/2017 20:19

I'm not keen...a cross between silage and ass.

YoungGirlGrowingOld · 22/09/2017 20:13

I have a Cyrus, mainly because we had to choose a Persian non-religious name and Darius was de trop I prefer it to Silas tbh - sounds like a name from Deliverance.

early30smum · 22/09/2017 20:09

I like it! Know one, he's 8 and lives in Oz.

sidonie1 · 22/09/2017 19:18

I love the name Silas. Had it towards the top of my list but my husband wasn't so keen. I think it's an awesome name.

Lemondrop99 · 22/09/2017 19:08

Not keen, sorry. It remind me of Silage

RandomMess · 22/09/2017 17:59

I do like Cyrus and Sirius.

I really don't like Silas, makes me thing of Silas Marner which to me sounds the name of someone mean (never read the book).

Met a little boy called Silas about 20 years he was 8 and I remember clearly wondering why they had given their lovely son such an ugly name Confused

Would be interesting to know if there is a linguistic study in the sounds in names and their popularity.

Thebluedog · 22/09/2017 15:56

Sounds like something out of X men movie, or a villain in a Harry Potter book

Whatslovegottodo · 22/09/2017 15:54

Cyrus and Sirius are lovely alternatives if we have all been too negative OP!

CakeRattleandRoll · 22/09/2017 14:58

I really like it. Would never have got it past DH though.

FizzyGreenWater · 22/09/2017 13:12

I was coming on to say 'nice, but worryingly evil sounding' and I thought I'd be the only one!!!

WineAndTiramisu · 22/09/2017 12:29

Silas Marner, a bad reminder of GCSE lessons!

99blueballoons · 21/09/2017 14:13

I really like this name and was on my list for if I had a ds. The only thing that put me off a little is how it seems to be disliked on mn.

Lookingtothehighlands · 21/09/2017 14:05

I like it. Infinitely better than lots of popular names at the moment.

Winteriscomingneedmorewood · 21/09/2017 14:01

My ds is Cyrus. .
Though the first HV app she called him Cyprus ffs!!

RandomMess · 21/09/2017 13:58

One of the very very names I dislike tbh

2014newme · 21/09/2017 13:45

Islas mariner. Sad

PandorasXbox · 21/09/2017 13:43

Too similar to silage.

Whatslovegottodo · 21/09/2017 12:19

It has negative connotations for me as serial killers unfortunately.

It also sounds like Silage.

I am really sorry I try not to be negative on name threads but I don't like Silas at all.
