I love Ivy - it's actually high up on my list. However, it's popularity is putting me off slightly, but if you like it then go for it.

Ivy is considered a weed, but it's also a deeply rooted plant that can grow tall and strong - which is something I would want for any daughter of mine.

Middle name suggestions...
Nova
Mae
Belle
Nora
Annabel
Grace
Pearl
Everest

annandale · 21/09/2017 01:27

Gorgeous and/but very popular now.
Rowan is still more unusual.

pilotswife · 21/09/2017 01:13

It's pretty but unbelievably popular here in Australia.
My favourite "plant name" is Violet

Carouselfish · 21/09/2017 01:10

I used to like it, was even in my top ten. Then someone reminded me it was the name of the head dinner lady at my old school - elderly, Miss Trunchbull type, bit dim and built like a tank. Can't seperate it now. No cuteness is left. Best I can say is, it doesn't sound like a weak, helpless little girly name, like other flower names can do.

Grandolddukeofwesteros · 20/09/2017 20:33

I used to like the name before I had a garden and witnessed its destructive power if let anywhere near a fence or a wall or other plants...

TatianaLarina · 20/09/2017 18:41

Not loving Ivy. 'Go and ask yer Antie Ivy'

Other names beginning with I - Imogen, Iona, Ione, Isolde/Iseult, Inès. Someone suggested Io on here the other day.

underpaiid · 20/09/2017 17:59

I know a couple and would say it should be nice but isn't probably due to how I feel about said parents!

Sunbitternx · 20/09/2017 16:53

Love it.

Very vintage sounding.

EdithWeston · 20/09/2017 16:52

I still think Tilsley.

Or drip

HenriettaH · 20/09/2017 16:47

I dont like the name. Most nurses will likely think of an IV drip. Just not a nice name in my opinion. But each to their own

MammieBear · 20/09/2017 16:44

Nothing wrong with it as a name, you might like Bryony.

holidayqueriwifi · 20/09/2017 16:34

When I think of Ivy, I don't think of poison ivy at all! Don't over think it. It's cute and increasingly popular.

maitaimojito · 20/09/2017 16:31

I like the sound of it but I hate the plant. I’d also be worried about references to ‘poison Ivy’.

pilates · 19/09/2017 21:46

Horrible weed
How about Primrose?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 19/09/2017 21:33

Very pretty.
MN suggestions.
Ivy Grace
Ivy Belle

LostwithSawyer · 19/09/2017 21:30

It's very pretty. I don't think of the plant.

Any name can become popular.

mummytwoh · 19/09/2017 21:20

I adore it - it's on my list for my Christmas baby.

PandorasXbox · 17/09/2017 17:55

I irrationally dislike it. All I can think of is poisoned Ivy of Corrie.

lesliekae · 17/09/2017 13:49

i prefer Iris too but cant use it Sad I love Ivy but i am a bit worried for the reason that some people hate the plant (or weed) !

bridgetreilly · 17/09/2017 13:39

I think it's lovely as a name and a plant! I've never tried to kill off the ivy in my garden and don't really know why anyone would.

Ivy Elizabeth
Ivy Eleanor
Ivy Rosalind
Ivy Caroline
Ivy Helena
Ivy Catherine
Ivy Juliet
Ivy Jennifer
Ivy Jean
Ivy Lois
Ivy Louise

Idratherhaveacupoftea · 17/09/2017 13:36

My auntie was an Ivy and loathed it.

Sophronia · 17/09/2017 13:22

It's ok. I prefer Iris though.

PressPaws · 17/09/2017 13:20

I love Ivy and would have used it for DC2 but it's too close to DC1's name. And DC2 turned out to be a boy anyway!

I like Ivy Sophia, Ivy Alice, Ivy Adeline, and Ivy Seren. But does depend on your surname.

ThisIsReallyFunny · 17/09/2017 13:18

Love it

SumAndSubstance · 17/09/2017 13:14

I agree with daisypond, it's just such a horrible plant!
