What do you pick for a girl and a boy?

Hyphenation allowed. Can choose a shortening if you want. Full name had to go on BC though Grin

I choose Tuesday for a girl, Friday for a boy.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

DS1 and DS2 were both born on Tuesdays. They could be Tuesday and Wtorek. DS3 was a Monday birth. He could be Poniedziałek. That'd give all the "but how will your poor poor children get through life with names that Brits find hard to spell" whingers something to really complain about.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 17/09/2017 13:48

Sabato (Saturday) for a boy
Rāhina (Monday) for a girl

bridgetreilly · 17/09/2017 13:44

Girl: Thursday after Thursday Next.
Boy: Friday after Thursday Next's son.

^ Or am I allowed "Sundae-Girl", to stay current with spelling trends? Wink

AutumnalLeaves38 · 17/09/2017 12:30

I'm going on a song theme:

Blu-Monday (boy)

Sunday-Girl (er...girl)

MumBod · 17/09/2017 12:21

Sunday or Tuesday for a girl - I like those names anyway.

A boy would be harder. Not Friday, because of Friday O'Leary from the Mr Gum books. Not Sunday or Tuesday because they're girls' names in my head.

Wednesday - nope. Wednesday Adams.
Saturday - girly, probably because of the girl band.
Monday - possibly, but what a shit day to be named after.

So, Thursday, by default. But I'd call him Thurs for short.

NotCornflakes · 17/09/2017 12:15

Mercredi (nn Mercy) for a girl
Thorsdag* (nn Thor) for a boy
*If this isn't Thursday in one of the Scandinavian languages, it should be!

Minniemagoo · 17/09/2017 12:14

I'd go for Luan (Monday) in Irish for a girl, pronounce (Loo An) And Mairt (Tuesday), Marty for a boy.
Though they would technically be incorrect as in Irish you either say Day of Monday ie De Luain, or the Monday ie An Luan, oh and also Tuesday is missing fadas as I cant do them on the phone.

ImogenTubbs · 17/09/2017 12:13

I went to school with a girl called Tuesday so it's always sounded like a name to me.

Probably Thursday for a boy because of Thor connotations.

JaneJeffer · 17/09/2017 12:12

Any of the Irish days sound good as names.

The law changed. You have to name your child after a day of the week....
daisypond · 17/09/2017 12:11

Italian makes anything sound better,
Domenica or Mercoledi - girl (Sunday or Wednesday)
Giovedi or Sabato - boy (Thursday or Saturday)

whitehandledkitchenknife · 17/09/2017 12:08

I'd go for Bank-Holiday-Monday for a boy (nn Banksy) and Three-Day Weekend for a girl (nn Daisy).

AhYaBastart · 17/09/2017 12:06

Diluain (Monday) for a boy, Sàbaid (Sunday) for a girl!

Somerville · 17/09/2017 12:04

I quite fancy Luain (Loo-in) for a boy and Sathairn (Sa-ha-rin) for a girl.
Respectively, Monday and Saturday, in Gaeilge.

PressPaws · 17/09/2017 12:04

Girl - Domenica
Boy - Mercredi

Hopefully the law doesn't change to English only!

LinoleumBlownapart · 17/09/2017 12:00

Ruby Tuesday is a winner Grin

LinoleumBlownapart · 17/09/2017 11:59

Domingo for a boy, Ringo for a nickname. Wednesday for a girl, love Wednesday Adams.

ChocolateCrunch · 17/09/2017 11:59

In fact Ruby Tuesday for a girl!

ChocolateCrunch · 17/09/2017 11:56

Tuesday for a girl
(Man) Friday for a boy

00100001 · 17/09/2017 11:51

It just says "days of the week" so, no language restrictions... Yet.

SuperBeagle · 17/09/2017 11:12

Wednesday, absolutely.

Wednesday Addams is a fantastic namesake.

micropig · 17/09/2017 11:08

Yeah, I'll go for Dienstag and Mittwoch, haha. I suspect weekdays sound prettier in other languages...

OublietteBravo · 17/09/2017 11:07

I like Samedi for a boy, and Jeudi for a girl.

OublietteBravo · 17/09/2017 11:04

Does it have to be in English? Or can I use days of the week in different languages?

NapQueen · 17/09/2017 11:01

Monday nn Mona for a girl
Friday nn Davie for a boy
