We're finally down to a reasonable amount of names on our shortlist
We're not looking to add any others to the list

We've got a while to decide yet (due January) so I'm not in any rush to find 'the one' just wanted to see which was people's favourites and if there's any glaringly obvious connections or connotations from these names that I'm missing?

The names are -
April
Emily
Erin
Harriet
Lydia

Lydia is my favourite, though Lydia Bennet does put me off it.
Emily is boring. Erin is OK. Harriet is dreary. April is nice and not common, but I might assume a birthday in April. Avril might be nice, with the same meaning.

Lydia is quite common.
If she isn't born in April she'll be forever explaining that.
Harriet is nice but becoming very overused
Emily is boring but fine.

Lydia is top of my list for dc2, I love it. Lydia Bennet is the little sister in Pride and Prejudice. She is quite immature and selfish and elopes with the man Elizabeth like who turns out to be a bad guy anyway. I actually love the literary connection and find her quite a sassy character who definitely knows what she wants.

Also love Harriet. Not keen on Erin and it seems to be quite popular around here and Emily, although lovely, is a little boring.

Erin, definitely. April is nice but I'm not sure I love it.

I can't stand Emily and Lydia is so pretty but I honestly just hear Chlymidia every time.

One on the list is my name Wink so you have good taste.

You have a good reason to use Apri as a middle name. It's lovely to be named after grandparents, I think second name though if not the month of birth. Emily is lovely, classic and travels well that's why it's popular, don't let that put you off.

I have an irrational dislike of the name Lydia, it reminds me of Labia

Harriet is a really good strong name.

After that Emily and Erin.

I've always found Lydia to be a bit wet and I don't like April at all, sorry.

Don't be put off using Emily because of popularity, it depends on where you live. I think that all of them are good but April only if born in that month would I possibly consider it.

Perhaps you should read Pride and Prejudice before you fix on Lydia if you don't know the Bennett connection Grin. Forewarned is forearmed and all that.

Hester is lovely, and very similar in style in Harriet. I've known two: both very clever but also elegantly beautiful.
