Kit or kitty definitely, that was my grandmother's name, short for Catherine. I would have liked to use it for dd but it didn't go with our surname.

grufallosfriend · 16/09/2017 11:21

Kit is better than Kitty. But Stella is an elegant beautiful name.

Coey2016 · 16/09/2017 10:27

Stella. Such a beautiful name

Thanks everyone. I agree Kitty is a bit "cute" thats why i was just thinking Kit. If not, Stella.

We have used Kitty as a second name. My 5 year old loves her name. Why not call her Stella kitty and enjoy both.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/09/2017 09:28

Kitty

There was a fashion when my children were born to register children as diminutives rather than full names (think "Lizzy" rather than Elizabeth). I'm struck by how many have changed their usage to either a different diminutive or used middle names instead. Fashions can change very quickly.

I would register the full name for a first name and simply use the diminutive. Possibly for a middle name it wouldn't matter so much.

Isn't Kit a male diminutive? Kitty reminds me of cats and kitchen maids.

MammieBear · 16/09/2017 09:23

Estelle would be preferred to Stella (I always think of the larger) angle kitty only if a Nn for a full name like Katherine, Katya or Katie.

BertrandRussell · 16/09/2017 09:03

Stella then.

You are naming an adult woman, who may not thank you for a "cute" name.

Theyhaveallbeenused2 · 16/09/2017 08:57

As cute as kitty is, Stella sounds better as a professional adult.

Crumb502 · 16/09/2017 08:53

Kitty was on my list for DD... after I delivered her a midwife came in wearing a Hello Kitty lanyard and husband immediately struck Kitty off the list :-(

Still love the name. Damn that lanyard!!

PhuntSox · 16/09/2017 08:46

Estella or Katherine nn Kit.

sourpatchkid · 16/09/2017 08:42

Not kitty, others kids will tease her "here kitty kitty, good cat" sorry because I actually think it's lovely

greendale17 · 16/09/2017 08:31
