Tissie Taberner
Cassandra Mortmain
Oswald Bastable
Ramona Quimby
Dimsie Maitland

(I wouldn't give these names to a child but they make good character names)

Clover and Cecy - lovely. Also like Rose Red.

In the later Anne of GG books, I think she has a daughter (or granddaughter?) called Rilla, presumably from Marilla. Lovely name.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 14/09/2017 20:56

Moonface

HeteronormativeHaybales · 14/09/2017 20:53

Yy to Petrova and Posy. I rather like Sylvia too, and Theo Dane is very cool.

I do wish Titty (Swallows and Amazons) hadn't been spoiled by the crude meaning.

And I rather like Anthea (Five Children and It).

For boys, my favourite is Emil (Emil and the Detectives).

Tilapia · 14/09/2017 20:43

Kialan from Cart and Cwidder by Diana Wynne Jones

Greenifer · 14/09/2017 20:42

Green I just went looking for stats on the use of Arrietty and noticed that one of the babyname sites is suggesting it as a NN for Harriet. So potentially one could have both.

Too late for me, sadly, but that is a top idea!

Aravis is brilliant, but again required a bit of bravery...

TishHope · 14/09/2017 20:36

Wendy
Christina
Alice

Littlegreyauditor · 14/09/2017 20:24

Ignatius from Iggy Peck, Architect, but only because I like to read "Good gracious, Ignatius".

SecretFreebirther · 14/09/2017 20:21

I like Dickon from The Secret Garden Blush

halesie · 14/09/2017 20:16

Another vote for Lyra.
Or Ariana (Dumbledore's sister from Harry Potter)

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 14/09/2017 20:14

Oh and I love Cosette (but I wouldn't name my baby it)

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 14/09/2017 20:12

Petrova and Posy (I don't like Pauline)

Tabitha, Jemima, Cecile, Rebekah, Thomas, Samuel, Benjamin (not mad on Peter)

Carlotta, Sally, Felicity (not Darrell)

Emerence, Cornelia, Margot, Constance, Simone

puffylovett · 14/09/2017 20:09

Oh.. and Daryl from Mallory towers?

puffylovett · 14/09/2017 20:08

Garion (David eddings)
Anne (of green gables)
Edmund (lion witch & wardrobe)
