Unique but acceptable girls names

As the thread title really...

I don't want to go for a name that's really popular at the moment but at the same time, I don't want to stick a target on their back because they have an "out-there" name.

My ideas so far are:
Beatrix
Rain
Luna

You do know that "unique" means the one and only, don't you? Not just a wee bit exotic and unusual? None of the suggestions people have given are unique - to get a unique name you'd have to do for something like fguijfjsahdhhg-mae, pronounced Lily.

PetalMettle · 17/09/2017 06:07

Depends. Prevailing MN wisdom seems to be - Unusual classic name = fine. Unusual modern name = chav.
I love Dina as someone mentioned up thread, and also like Cara. Celeste doesn't seem as popular as I feel it should be.

How about
Queenie
Missy
Biba
Bathsheba

Leilaniii · 17/09/2017 05:50

Unique names aren't really acceptable?

Not on here they're not. If you choose a name for your child that doesn't adhere to the prevailing norm, then you are a chav. Apparently.

There are loads of baby Lunas. Some celeb had baby and called it that. Suddenly it's everywhere. So not one to pick if you want unusual.

CoughingForWeeks · 14/09/2017 14:19

My favourite unusual girls' names are both from 60s songs - Elenore (The Turtles), and Jessamine (The Casuals), though they could easily be shortened to Ellie and Jess/Jessie

Wish Mn had an editing function - lumen is a measure of light, not simply "light" 😁

I really love this but may be a bit out there Flowers
