Is McKenna okay for a first name (girl) if not, middle name? Thanks

It sounds very masculine to me as well as being a surname.

CaliforniaHorcrux · 08/09/2017 20:56

Reminds me of Taylor And McKenna a toy store where I used to get My Little Pony from in the 80s

Not sure the OP is coming back

FizzyGreenWater · 08/09/2017 18:49

Not nice at all. What would it get shortened to - Muck? Kenny?

Just don't!!!!

SomeOtherFuckers · 08/09/2017 01:03

Megan McKenna s surname ... your choice

tigercub50 · 08/09/2017 00:51

Possibly for a boy but I wouldn't choose it myself

Lemondrop99 · 08/09/2017 00:42

Paul

MyNeighbourSnorlax · 08/09/2017 00:34

I grew up watching Tucker (American show, aired on Nickelodeon in the UK, stars Katey Sagal) and McKenna is the name of one of the female main characters, so I wouldn't think it was weird ... I think most people disagree though!

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 08/09/2017 00:13

Ew

crazycatgal · 08/09/2017 00:11

It's awful

ViserionTheDragon · 08/09/2017 00:07

No.

mbb1 · 08/09/2017 00:05

Awful.

SuperBeagle · 07/09/2017 23:52

I know a Mackenzie, so McKenna doesn't seem too far off.

But the spelling does make it seem more surname-like. I'm not sure if Mackenna is a correct spelling, but that might be something to consider?

I'm not a fan, personally. All of these names remind me of McKinsey, the consulting firm. But that's a niche reference. Grin

MikeUniformMike · 07/09/2017 21:52

Regan is a girl's name.

If MacKenna and Mackenzie are OK as girl's names, how about MacIntosh?

SirNiallDementia · 07/09/2017 21:43

Like PPs have said, it's a surname meaning son of Kenna. It isn't a girl's name.

How about
Keziah
Kendall
Kerensa
Magali
Karina
Coralie

BakedBeeeen · 07/09/2017 21:26

Oh my god, don't do this to your poor child!

Kellyturnbull · 07/09/2017 21:21

I like it 😊 Think it's a lovely name for a girl 💗

KnockMeDown · 07/09/2017 21:19

Going to go against the grain and say that I like it! There are a lot of far worse names, but this one is actually nice. I say go for it!

TallulahBetty · 07/09/2017 21:16

Oh god I came on here to say please don't call your little boy McKenna. But a girl?! Please don't. So many beautiful names out there.

Michaela?
Kendall?
Kerry?

shopbopdrop · 07/09/2017 21:12

As a first name.. ugh ugh ugh one of the worst I've heard .

CryptoFascist · 07/09/2017 21:11

Oh give over.

DramaAlpaca · 07/09/2017 21:10

I know one, she's American & has sisters called Reagan & Carson. Not my style of names at all.

idontwannaneedthem · 07/09/2017 21:09

Dreadful

SpikeGilesSandwich · 07/09/2017 21:06

Wolfiefan - I'm guessing you don't watch The Middle then? They have a kid called Brick, they are American though so that explains a lot.

Ontopofthesunset · 07/09/2017 19:39

I just find it bizarre when there are so many nice existing first names out there that McKenna would cross anyone's mind as a choice. It's just such a common surname and as everyone has said Mc means 'son of' so it's odd, like calling a girl Stephenson. Mind you, there are probably hundreds of little female Stephenson's out there and it probably 'really suits them'.

Fekko · 07/09/2017 19:19

Far-Kee-harr-sun? Lovely name. Right up there with Sidebottom.
