Opinions on Polly? Similar names ?

I really love the name Polly just want to see what you think? Also any name suggestions would be appreciated x

I like it, it's my DD's middle name and I never thought of the parrot thing. In my case it's after PJ Harvey, so there's a good example of an adult polly.

I love it. Don't think DP likes it though so unlikely to ever use it. I know one with a sister called Winnie (not short for anything, just Winnie) which I also like.

I love this name. I know a 30 year old Polly who is lovely, and really suits her name. never even thought about parrot or kettle jokes!

Love it. Think it's actually(rather strangely) a nickname for Mary, so you could always call her that on the birth certificate.

My 3.5 year old DD is Polly. It is very rare we come across another one considering how popular similar names are. There are a few Polly's who appear on TV (real and fictional!) and they mostly seem to be Doctors Smile.
She never gets parrot/dolly jokes although yet to start school so we will see...

Maybe the UK isn't Wink it's in the top 100 in France and I think it's quite cute.

Pauline?! Hmm Surely the world's not ready for a revival of that yet? I really like Polly. I imagine a quirky bright individual of any age. Lovely....but then my daughter is Nancy which has a similar feel.

It's too parrot related for me - and I know 2 dogs but no people called Polly, so that would put me off.

What about Pauline or Paula, nickname Polly?

My cousin called her youngest child Polly. Hated the name to start with, as did my nan who thought my cousin was nuts. Now I think the name is great.

Molly or Dolly?

I really like Polly, I have only ever met one and she was beautiful and cool and not cutesy at all.

I had forgotten about this name so have added it to my list.

My primary school best friend's big sister was called Polly and she was so cool. Only positive connotations here.

We have a primary school age Polly in the family. To our (and her) knowledge, she has never had a parrot, cracker or pocket related joke! She loves her name.

I know a very cool grown up Polly too. Would love to see somebody call her cutesy Grin

I like Polly. It's a friends nn but very people know it's not her actual name, she always gets comments on what a lovely name it is.

It's one of those names I think the owner needs to be quite confident to pull off!

It's a family name and really very few jokes about it ever as an adult. Not ever been a problem. Great name in my view.

I dislike it, sorry. It sounds affected and cutesy to me, but that's just a personal taste thing and clearly many on here do like it! There will always be some who like a name and some who don't, so if you love it, use it!

It wouldn't be for me, a bit cutesy imo and I'm struggling to picture it on an adult.

I do definitely prefer it to Milly, Tilly, Molly, Billie etc though!

I like Polly - probably wouldn't go for it myself, as it's a bit too nickname-ish - but it's a much better choice than the way more common Molly, Tilly, Milly, Ellie, etc.
