Is Zachary really common?

Im struggling if we have a boy. A few on here have said Zachary is really common but round here there is lots of Henrys Olivers Jacks and Elliots. I only know one Zach. Views?

I don't know any little Zacharys round here. I really like the name, it was on our list and we're definitely not "common." I much prefer Zachary / Zach to Nathan / Nate. I know a few baby Nates.

Maybe higher if you add up all the spellings - Zachary Zacharias Zachariah Zach Zac Zak Zack?

Honestly? I know about 50 Zack's. They might be a zack, Zak, Zac, zack or zach but looking literally every family i know has some form of a Zack. Only one or two are Zachary's but Zack is ubiquitous and usually with a brother called Max

Nathan is lovely and much nicer/ more classy than Zack! I wouldn't shorten Nathan at all, it's lovely as it is.

It's a great name OP and will always remain thus. You're always good with an Old Testament name.

Always give the proper name on the birth cert. even if he's Zach in RL (not Zak). That's my unasked for two cents. Wink

I've said this on here before I know a Zac who was called Zac rather than Jack as 'there are less of them about' Now he is at school with another Zak, plus 2 Isaacs who both use Zac as a short form - so 4 Zac/ks in a class of 28, and no Jacks at all.

I love Nate, and also like Adam. Prefer both these to the Zack names.

Zacks are easily mistaken for Jacks. There are two of each in DD's class !! (Y1 next week).

There's a Zachary in both my children's classes. Only one, but that's one out of 15 in each case, so I suppose it's quite common/ popular round here.

I know about 5 or 6 Zachary:Zacariah/Zaccheus of various splellings, under 5 amongst DD's peers. Jewish, Muslim and Christian families - it is quite well used since it works in many cultures.

I have a Zachary, I know one other Zak but no other Zachary's. Up north too.
