Opinions on the name Robyn for a girl...or Robin. Is it seen as chavvy? My oh loves it but i'm not sure

My DD is called Robyn, never occurred to us to use an "in" - think "yn" makes it more recognisable she's a girl.

To be honest with you, it's a complete marmite name for others, we've had strangers telling us how much we love it, and people we know wrinkling their nose up at it so as with all names, make sure you love it before you use it!!

Her nickname is Robs, Bobs, Bobbie, Bobbin Robyn.....

I love it for a girl but I do prefer y, I'm not sure why though. I wouldn't have thought it was chavvy at all, I think it's a beautiful strong name. The only thing that bothered me when I was listing names before we knew DS was a DS, was that I don't like Rob/Robbie as an abbreviation for a girl BlushBlush

robin with an i makes more sense as it's obvs the same spelling as the bird...the y makes it seem more like a made up name just to make it more feminine? iykwim. i just hope she wouldn't be mistaken as a boy too much

One of my favourites spelt Robin for a boy or a girl. I don't like the Robyn spelling, though. oddly, earlier, well before I saw your post I was thinking Robin Noelle is a pretty name for a baby girl born in winter :)

I like it. Dislike the Robyn spelling, but I think that's the more common girls spelling.
