Thoughts?

DH loves it, I think of Quim!

What images does a lady called Quinn conjure up? I don't think I've ever met one! (Dr Quinn Medicine Woman?!)

Gorgeous name .... I love it...

Howaboutthisone · 31/08/2017 11:40

Makes me think of the character in One Tree Hill. I like it.

LorLorr2 · 31/08/2017 11:35

Quinn makes me think of Glee. I'd never heard it as a first name until then but it was cute on the character ('cool' cheerleader)

Frazzled2207 · 31/08/2017 11:32

Love it makes me think of Peter Quinn in Homeland

drinkingtea · 31/08/2017 11:29

Quinn as a woman's name makes me think of the character in the mockumentary type series UnREAL. Probably not a namesake many would choose.

The name Quinn on its own makes me think of the song The Mighty Quinn (Manfred Mann?)

It's a surname as first name, which always make me assume that it's the mother's maiden name, or at a stretch a grandmother's maiden name perhaps.

Is the guy in Homelands called Quinn?

dontquotemeondailymail · 31/08/2017 11:22

Love Quinn, sounds very strong!

RightOnTheEdge · 31/08/2017 10:35

I've never heard of Quim and I'm pretty sure most kids won't have either.

There are two Quinns in my DCs school one is a girl and one is a boy.

SindyFishtail · 31/08/2017 10:35

I know a gorgeous little girl called Quinn. Really like it.

I also like Baby Sister Little Girl Grin

TheNaze73 · 31/08/2017 10:31

Quim was my first thought too

MaroonPencil · 31/08/2017 10:17

Yes, I think of Daria's sister too, it was the first time I had heard the name. I like it. DH also brings up the quim connection, but really, if the Avengers can get away with using it in a 12A, I think it's safe to say that hardly anyone knows what it means (apart from most of MN it seems :-D). John means toilet but that doesn't stop people using it!

grufallosfriend · 31/08/2017 10:12

Masculine, like Flynn or Finn. I like it for a boy.

chipsandpeas · 31/08/2017 08:15

I know a baby boy Quinn and it suits him

17caterpillars1mouse · 31/08/2017 08:14

I quite like it. I imagine a strong business minded women with great shoes

YokoReturns · 30/08/2017 22:18

Quinn is Daria's little sister in the TV series. She has red hair and is a Queen Bee.

QueenofLouisiana · 30/08/2017 22:12

@Fekko "a woman's genitals [vulgar]" says my online dictionary (no accompanying pictures thank goodness).

I quite like Quinn (but it is the name of our very lovely hamster).

Fekko · 30/08/2017 21:05

Sink? Don't! My autocorrect is mad.

Fekko · 30/08/2017 21:05

I sink know but in true mumsnet style am too scared to google. I've been caught out before (dragon butter, blue waffles...).

RupertPsmith · 30/08/2017 21:03

I don't think many people know the term 'quim'. There's a scene in one the Avengers films when Loki calls Black Widow a 'mewling quim'. I think it sailed over most people's heads.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/08/2017 07:39

First thought is quim too,so I don't like it.

harrietm87 · 30/08/2017 07:37

Bog standard Irish surname so never used as a first name here. Like calling a baby Smith. I don't understand the surname as first name trend at all - so many lovely first names to choose from.

SuperBeagle · 29/08/2017 23:23

Never heard of "quim" but I'm in Australia.

I like Quinn. Reminds me of Harley Quinn and the Quinn on One Tree Hill.

Mellington · 29/08/2017 23:19

Reminiscent of a boy at public school getting called by his surname

Is it not quite standard practice to call people by their surname? DH still calls me by my maiden name, I still call friends by their maiden names?!

Seems people are as split as we are over Quinn as we are! Im still on the fence but less worried about the quim aspect now 😂
