Edward by a mile. In its entirety. No silly nn.

Glumglowworm · 12/09/2017 18:46

Edward

Froginthehole · 12/09/2017 18:29

We like the nn Ted but do worry about the Teddy fad. Naming a baby is so hard!

Teddy as in Teddy Bear 🐻? Would a little boy want to called that?

Montsti · 12/09/2017 10:34

Edward nn. Teddy...

I don't mind Ernie but dislike Ernest...

grufallosfriend · 12/09/2017 09:46

Edward is dull. Ernest is more interesting!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 12/09/2017 09:08

Yes, Ern is cool !

harrietm87 · 12/09/2017 07:15

Edward definitely!

MikeUniformMike · 12/09/2017 05:45

Edward. I also like Edmund and Edgar.

hiimmumma · 12/09/2017 03:59

Edward is boring. Unless it's nn Teddy or Ted? But is popular at the moment.

Ernest was on the list for us. Love Ernie.
But we decided against it because Hemingway HATED his name his whole life. Apparently.
If that dosent put you off then go for Ernest.

SerfTerf · 12/09/2017 02:58

Ernest is fabulous Smile

So is Ern.

Pemba · 12/09/2017 02:05

Edward - nice, normal, nice nicknames. Ernest is just so little old man.

DragonMamma · 11/09/2017 23:44

I know a kid nn Evil Ernie so Edward for me.

Ernest is dreadful...sorry!

Froginthehole · 11/09/2017 23:43

Still can't decide Sad Edward seems too normal but Ernest is a bit of a statement. No other names on the table. Have to register him soon... Confused

Edward has loads of lovely shortenings. Ernest- not so much.

Floellabella · 29/08/2017 18:05

Edward

CocoLoco87 · 29/08/2017 14:19

Ern sounds like urn or errrrrm (IMO!). I don't think Edward is overused.

early30smum · 29/08/2017 11:26

Definitely Edward!

Froginthehole · 29/08/2017 11:02

Thanks for your thoughts so far, didn't expect Ernest to be so unpopular!

I do have worries about Edward being too popular but it is such a nice name that we have liked for ages. Is it terribly boring?

Is Ern a terrible nickname? Don't really like Ernie...

I too prefer Ernest!

Edward/Ed is a little dull due in comparison

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 29/08/2017 09:32

Ernest.

17caterpillars1mouse · 29/08/2017 08:41

Ernest as it's a gorgeous name and more unusual

Imnotatypicalsausage · 29/08/2017 08:18

Surprised at how many people prefer Edward given how everyone on MN says they are bored of kids being called Teddy.

Ernest is more interesting?

MissClimpsonsTypingBureau · 29/08/2017 04:57

Ernest is a bit... earnest. If you love it go for it, but I'm afraid I don't. However it's a classic and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it - no reason not to use it except that some people won't like it!

But if it were me I'd go for Edward.

CakeRattleandRoll · 29/08/2017 00:58
