Just to clarify, I'd assume girl simply because it seems to be used more widely for girls these days. Rare to come across a male Aubrey

I'd want it to be a boy but probably assume it's a girl. It's a name I like but got struck off the list as girls have "stolen" it to the point that most people I know think it's a girl only name and raised their eyebrows when I suggested it for a boy

I would guess girl. Have you only been given a paper copy of the class list? If your have sims or similar there's often an option to add extra date columns to the register, including sex.
