I was so pleased with the response about Billie for a girl but this one is a bit more 'unusual'

Link

I know you can lengthen it to be Lincoln but I don't like that so it would just be Link.

DH is a huge Zelda fan Grin

Congratulations Ella Flowers
It's definitely a good job you have thick skin Grin I knew it would get divided views here as it is 'out there' but that's one reason I liked it.

Hingle thank you so much. You may have restored my positivity in the name.

I don't get how anyone can think it's "not a name". Names are just words, if someone called it him it's his name surely?

HingleMcCringleberry · 27/08/2017 19:17

Link is a phenomenal name. I've known two Lincolns, both went by Linc, so might as well just cut to the chase and call your son Link. And the associations with the name are great - he's stoical and courageous. Why wouldn't you want your son named after such a badass?

HowzatCat · 27/08/2017 18:59

Awful. Sorry. Lincoln is fine but people will think it's a typo and not a name.

foodiefil · 27/08/2017 18:57

I don't like it but each to their own!

People get used to names don't they...

EllaNB · 27/08/2017 18:52

It's a good job I have thick skin, we called one of our little 3 week old boy twins Lincoln with a view to shortening it to Linc.

FYI everyone who we told this name to when I was pregnant told me they hated it! Even I didn't really like it, but we were having two boys and my DH was set on the name link and we agreed we both got to choose a name each.

Now he is ear I think Link is the perfect name, it suits him so much xx

Viviennemary · 27/08/2017 18:12

It's not the worst name I've heard on here. But tbh it's pretty dire.

DragonsandDungeons · 27/08/2017 18:09

I like it but I like Zelda lol

Blondielongie · 27/08/2017 18:07

I immediately think of Zelda. And I love that game so for that reason I like it :)

BasiliskStare · 27/08/2017 18:05

" Link" . Personally , I wouldn't . But your choice. Which he will have to live with.

InvisibleCities · 27/08/2017 17:27

If you like it, use it. Just don't be surprised if his mates start calling him URL!

Gameofgnomes · 27/08/2017 17:18

The weird thing is, I don't like Lincoln.

Glumglowworm · 27/08/2017 17:17

Awful sorry

I'm not a fan of Lincoln but it's better than just Link

Jooni · 27/08/2017 17:15

I quite like it actually

mooneyboo · 27/08/2017 16:21

I like the sound of it but I don't like how it is written down. Could there be another way to spell it?

RiverTam · 27/08/2017 16:13

I would go for Lincoln and then just always call him Link. It makes more sense for those not in the know re Zelda, and it gives him options if he decides Link is too out there.

NoCapes · 27/08/2017 16:13

Link isn't really a name, I'd go with Lincoln and just call him Link for short

Makes me think of prison break

bridgetreilly · 27/08/2017 16:13

It's awful. It's not a name and as a word it doesn't mean or sound like anything which is a name. Please don't.

NC4now · 27/08/2017 16:11

Yep, Legends of Zelda. Are you a Nintendo fan?

TitsalinaBumSquash · 27/08/2017 16:07

I don't think it's awful, I'm a Zelda fan though.

MammieBear · 27/08/2017 16:02

Think it's awful, and I've NEVER said that about a name but technically this isn't one.

daisypond · 27/08/2017 16:01

I've just had to google what Zelda means. To me, Zelda can only be Zelda Fitzgerald, the wife of the writer Scott Fitzgerald. I was completely off track on that. But I still don't like Link.

Gameofgnomes · 27/08/2017 15:52

Just me and you rosesndt Grin

I expected it which means I probably shouldn't saddle the child with years of Hmm whenever they introduce themselves.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 27/08/2017 15:45

Sorry, it's a big NO, from me.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 27/08/2017 15:11

My first thought was Zelda misspent youth Grin

Friend of mine was considering it and went for Hero instead, which is also quite unusual, but seems to be more acceptable as a name.
