Imogen, Olivia or Hattie?

You can never predict whether they will end up being known as NameX though.

DS has a name that was outside the top 100 when he was born. There were two of them in our NCT group and will be two in his Yr1 class in September. Yet as far as I am aware no Amelias, Olivers, Olivias, Chloes or Harrys.

My DD is called Imogen we called her Immy as a nn but she hated it

This is why I've never understood the trend for choosing a nickname for your child instead of letting it develop naturally.

Thank you for all your replies, I should of said Hattie would officially be Harriet if we chose that one.

I'm still undecided, but order of preference is now Imogen, Olivia then Hattie. The fact that she may get know as 'Olivia and her initial' due to popularity was something I hadn't thought of. I have a very popular name and there were 3 of us in my class.

Goodness me this is hard!

I like Harriet a lot, though I'm not a huge fan of Hattie.
Imogen always sounds a bit wet to me.
Olivia is really lovely, which I guess is why it's currently so popular.

Harriet Olivia?

We have an Imogen. No nickname has stuck yet. She's still firmly Imogen.

I see Imo as a head girl type. Likes hockey and tennis, probably history and English A-levels. Solid and level headed. Unflappable.

Immy/Immie is more flighty. Probably draws a heart over her i's. Does a lot of dancing and likes butterflies and rainbows. Far more girlie.

Such different feelings from versions of the same name Grin

How about Matilda (Mattie?) - that was one of our other options.

Hattie short for Harriett is ok. I've never liked Olivia

I like all 3, probably like Olivia best even though super popular! Imogen next with Hattie last as I prefer it as a NN for Harriet which I'm not super keen on.

So probably Olivia or Imogen for me.

I love all 3 but as PPs have said I'd go for Harriet rather than Hattie.

We've got an Imogen (only one in her primary school) & she gets called Jim Jims, not a fan of Immy & neither is she.

Olivia is the best. I think it's a nice name, but it is quite often used now. I don't like Hattie, and I hate Harriet. Imogen is also quite common now and I can't get over the fact that the name has come about because of a spelling mistake/printer's error, so I wouldn't have that either.

I like Hattie, but would have it as Harriet, nn Hattie or Harri. Also like Imogen. Never been a fan of Olivia, and it's very popular at the mo.

I know triplets with these names.

I prefer the name Hattie (assuming Harriet). Lots of Imogen's and Olivia's where I live. (there are more Imogen's at my local playgroups than Amelia's)

Not Hattie. Too harsh imo and fatty hattie, natty hattie, scatty hattie etc are too ripe for the playground. Especially if your daughter is unfortunate enough to have issues with her weight.

Imogem. Olivia is the most popular name in the country ( or in the top 3? and has been for years. There are lots of them in every class.

I get a more serious vibe from Imogen like she's definitely be all prim and proper

Olivia is nice and I like Livvy but I do know absolutely loads of them, especially 10 and under. Youngest I know is 18 months

Hattie - I think it sounds like the name of a fiesty and lovely child but not sure how Hattie would sound at say 32
