I really love the name Thaddeus (yes I know about AHS) but every person I know has said it's hideous. Is it?

I like Thaddeus but then I'm old enough to remember Alias Smith and Jones one of them was Thaddeus can't remember which!

Margotsmom · 26/08/2017 10:09

I like it a lot. I have a Thady so I may be being biased towards it as they are similar.

WatchingFromTheWings · 26/08/2017 09:57

I like it. DD has a lad in her drama group called that.

Crumbs1 · 26/08/2017 09:57

I like it. Lovely diminutives as well. Tad, Teddy, Teddy.

SumAndSubstance · 26/08/2017 09:56

You could always call him Jude for short...

indigo13 · 26/08/2017 09:56

I like it. I keep seeing it in the credits for something on TV although I cant think what at the moment. Was he one of the disciples? Theo is so boring now, this is much better

I think it's awful. Sorry. You asked.
Thad is tolerable. Thane is cool.

grufallosfriend · 26/08/2017 09:36

Thaddeus is a great name. Nice change from Theodore!

17caterpillars1mouse · 26/08/2017 09:04

It's nice but is quite a strong name to live up too. It gives imagery of a warrior to me so may not suit a more gentle type of man

elQuintoConyo · 26/08/2017 08:53

I like it. I don't think it sounds 'way out there' at all. It isn't far off Theo but better. The suggested nicknames on your link are all crap except Thad - that's great!

There are a couple of children's films in Spain about an Indiana Jones-type character called Tadeo Jones, it it is a name i have heard before. I haven't seen AHS and neither have any of my friends. Only about 5 of them watch GOT! I have only recently on here heard about the meaning of Joffrey Grin

Raines100 · 26/08/2017 08:48

Liking Thaddeus. It's badass. I proposed it for DS1, but it was too out there for DH. A shame as DS1 could have pulled it off.

MrsEricBana · 26/08/2017 07:22

Yes i know a teen Thad. Seems cool on him.

Mum2OneTeen · 26/08/2017 07:21

It's a no from me Smile

RhubardGin · 26/08/2017 07:20

Hmmm I'm not a fan.

To me it's sounds pretentious and clunky.

How about Theo?

SuperBeagle · 26/08/2017 00:46

I don't like it at all, and think it'd be a hard name for someone to pull off.

MammyOnTheMove · 25/08/2017 23:11

@ivegotdreadfulpmttoday 😂 short and sweet! Thanks for your honesty

Yes

PaganGoddessBrigid · 25/08/2017 22:54

Like it.

Nonotmenori · 25/08/2017 22:53

It was a school friends surname.

HappyLollipop · 25/08/2017 22:51

I like it, Thad is a cool nickname!

DuggeeHugs · 25/08/2017 22:49

It was on my shortlist, although DH wasn't keen. I love it!

MammyOnTheMove · 25/08/2017 22:42

It can be shortened to loads too. Not sure I like the nicknames.

I love Thaddeus! It's very cool.

Liadain · 25/08/2017 22:01

I'm a teacher as well so I get the appeal of an unusual name.

Thaddeus...I just can't get on board with it, I don't like the sound. Dmitri mentioned upthread is a fabulous name though!
