I really love the name Thaddeus (yes I know about AHS) but every person I know has said it's hideous. Is it?

Love it. Really dislike ordinary names.

Mulch · 14/10/2017 10:45

I just love it

daisypond · 14/10/2017 10:44

I think it's fine. I don't think it's way out in the least. It's an old name, just not very common these days.

Smoliver · 14/10/2017 09:06

I really like Thaddeus - it's a good, strong name. Wish I were brave enough to pull this off! Grin

MiniMaxi · 14/10/2017 08:43

I have met one adult Thaddeus and think it's pretty cool. Might get a few raised eyebrows depending on the circles you move in!

SleepingStandingUp · 14/10/2017 01:48

I like OT but it is very close to Teddy.
But then my name list was Gideon, Xavier, Zachariah and Ezekiel so I clearly like ssomething's a little left of centre

Dixiestampsagain · 14/10/2017 01:39

I'm not a big fan but I do know someone called Taddy.

Poppyfields21 · 14/10/2017 00:45

I meant they expected him to be Greek, from Greece

buttercup54321 · 27/08/2017 00:22

Terrible

hollyisalovelyname · 26/08/2017 21:16

It's shortened to Thady in Ireland.
Pronounced Taydee.
It's nice.
There's a song called 'The Bold Thady Quinn'
I have no idea what the words of it are so forgive me if it insults anybody.

JapaneseTea · 26/08/2017 21:04

Yes

Ankleswingers · 26/08/2017 21:04

Nope, not to my taste.

Queenofthedrivensnow · 26/08/2017 21:02

It's a great name. Jean shrimpton named her son the same

Toddlerteaplease · 26/08/2017 20:57

Thaddeus was one of the disciples. Also a character in The Sign of Four. Thaddeus Sholto.

bridgetreilly · 26/08/2017 20:55

Theodore and Thaddeus are perfectly okay sibling names if that's what you want, OP.

bridgetreilly · 26/08/2017 20:53

I knew a Thaddeus and people were forever spelling it wrong and also assuming it was a foreign name for example Greek.

Well, that's because it is Greek. Like, oh, Simon, Peter, John, James, Paul, Andrew, Matthew...

MammyOnTheMove · 26/08/2017 18:09

@BendydickCuminsnatch it wouldn't be as bad as a family at school. Their girls are Ayva, Ayda, and Ayla. All a year apart in age and they've another On the way!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 26/08/2017 17:52

Oh yea, you can't have Theodore and Thaddeus Grin Sorry!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 26/08/2017 17:51

Nope, I love Thaddeus! My first thought is the brother from The Family Stone, that's probably a bit obscure. I forgot there was one in AHS. Our girl name choice is Adelaide, which features in AHS too! So what, it appears tons of other places too, as does Thaddeus :) Go for it!

MammyOnTheMove · 26/08/2017 17:42

My current DS is called Teddy so I wouldn't use that as a nickname. I guess I can't Name the next one Thaddeus now anyway. I didn't think it was that similar to Theodore. I also didn't think Theodore was a boring name though 😆 he will never be a Theo though as I really don't like the name.

I was at university with a Thaddeus. He was called Thad and I thought it was a great name.

FacelikeaBagofHammers · 26/08/2017 14:30

I absolutely love the name Thady

grufallosfriend · 26/08/2017 14:29

Theodore/Theo is indeed boring now. Thaddeus is cool and a little different!
