Eden lovely for a boy although I've never met any edens my first thought was of the Chelsea footballer Eden Hazard

TheEternalForever · 25/08/2017 23:00

It's a unisex name so you can definitely use it. It's not that uncommon on boys either - it's well in the top 1000 name charts for 2016 for both boys and girls (though I believe it is higher for girls). The only Eden I know irl is a girl.

Sallywiththegoodhurrr · 25/08/2017 22:01

I've only ever known it as a girls name

cantthinkofanythingwitty · 25/08/2017 21:21

The only Eden I have ever met was a boy so I associate this name with boys primarily but I think it works for both. I think it's a really nice name

bridgetreilly · 25/08/2017 21:12

It's a masculine noun and I've seen it as a boy's name, but more recently it seems to be used for girls. I'd go for it, but be prepared for some surprised responses.

pilates · 25/08/2017 18:53

I like it for both sex

Runningyogabooze · 25/08/2017 18:49

I know a very pretty girl Eden.

Notso · 25/08/2017 18:37

The first two Edens I met were boys so I'm always surprised to see it as a girls name.

Aidan and Ethan are awful and Eben gets mispronounced a lot, don't choose those.

daisypond · 25/08/2017 18:32

I'd assume a girl. Aidan?

AuntieStella · 25/08/2017 17:22

Lovely!

It's traditionally a boys name and ONS shows it's more often used for boys than girls,

I know there was that daytime soap that had it on a female character, but most people won't remember that

Susiethetortoiseshellcat · 25/08/2017 17:19

I like it for a boy, I think it sounds really cool. It's definitely more popular for girls at the moment though so might be more of an issue when he's older. It also seems to be the name of a lot of brands, particularly cheap cosmetic ones which puts me off.

GlitterRollerSkate · 25/08/2017 16:22

I love Eden for a boy! Don't know any Eden's in RL.

Sophronia · 25/08/2017 16:19

I prefer it for a boy!

Cruciatus · 25/08/2017 16:17

How about Aedan?

TheVanguardSix · 25/08/2017 16:14

No.

SlayeroftheVampyres · 25/08/2017 16:13

I've only met boys called Eden before. It's a perfectly pleasant name.

FfionFlorist · 25/08/2017 15:24

We live in the Eden valley in Cumbria, I know about 6 Edens here, they are all girls.

GerundTheBehemoth · 25/08/2017 15:00

The only Eden I've met was a bloke. He was very pleasant and handsome, which is probably why I like it as a male name :)

MammieBear · 25/08/2017 14:51

Works of both I'd say after all it is a word name.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/08/2017 14:42

Awful for a girl. Heinous for a boy, sorry

Jooni · 25/08/2017 13:54

It's unisex but does feel more feminine to me as I've met a few girl Edens and no boys. No reason why it shouldn't work though!

How about Eben or Auden if you want something more decidedly masculine?

Mammadragon · 25/08/2017 13:40

Oh I meant to add I'm UK based (Turkish BIL)

stellarfox · 25/08/2017 13:33

Girls name for me (UK based)

mmmmnuts · 25/08/2017 13:22

I only know it as a boys name. But then, I only know it from Eden Hazard.

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 25/08/2017 13:20

I only know Eden as a boys name!
