help with girl names

DH and I just can't decide on our girl's name. Here are some options we've been playing with:
Alba White
Amla White
Zana White
Any thoughts? (We have 'safer' alternatives!)

Livia is a wonderful name. I like Hana too.

I think you would have all kinds of issues with either Amla or Alba, tbh. Zana is my favourite of your first three, but I wouldn't be certain how to pronounce it: Zay-na or Zann-a?

mooneyboo · 27/08/2017 11:54

I love Livia!

Argeles · 27/08/2017 11:47

Amla is lovely.

flumpybear · 27/08/2017 11:38

I wouldn't go with zana as it's too close to teeth in some languages so 'teeth white' immediately springs to my mind

nodogsinthebedroom · 27/08/2017 11:15

Amla is nice, especially if it has a personal/cultural connection for you.

LadyWithLapdog · 26/08/2017 17:11

I love Livia and Hana.

manicinsomniac · 26/08/2017 16:46

Going against the grain here; I like Zana best from your original list.

But, from your update - I love both Livia and Hana

Threeandabit · 26/08/2017 16:31

Oh, I've not heard of Amla before! Sounds nice.

I prefer Amla to Alba, and I prefer Alma to Amla. However it may just be because I am not used to Amla as a name. I like it when names have a nice meaning too.

lenaleave · 26/08/2017 16:12

Thanks everyone, we knew about the double white issue with Alba but thought we could get away with it - sounds like not! And I meant Amla not Alma (which means sweet in my language) but again it looks like everyone will always read it as Alma so will consider Alma instead. This has been very useful. The safer options (or so we think) are Hana and Livia. Any thoughts on how they compare to Alma?

I think Alba is lovely.

Don't like the other two, sorry.

Alma is lovely. Smile

daisypond · 25/08/2017 19:14

Alba means dawn as well. But I still think it sounds rather awkward.
Xenia? Similar sound to Zana, but with an extra syllable. I actually think it flows better with your surname.

PandorasXbox · 25/08/2017 17:03

Sorry OP I'm not keen on them.

Something like Violet White .... sounds like a pale paint... I'd avoid all colour-related names.

Alma is nice. Zana would be but (to my ear) a bit too much like zany.

Ropsleybunny · 25/08/2017 16:34

Anna

Sophronia · 25/08/2017 16:20

Love Alma

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 25/08/2017 16:06

Zana White.

MammieBear · 25/08/2017 14:53

Alma?.....

TempsPerdu · 25/08/2017 13:56

I like Alba, but wouldn't use it with White as it has the same meaning - it's the equivalent of White White. Don't like Alma and not convinced on Zana - Zanna and Zinnia are both better imo .

Really like a lot of Joona's suggestions.

holidayqueriwifi · 25/08/2017 13:49

Zinnia White
Not keen on your choices sorry.

Jooni · 25/08/2017 13:49

I like Alba best but it means white so sounds a bit funny with the surname! Alma is nice too. I think Zana would be constantly confused for Zara.

I don't like any of them... sorry OP! Just my personal opinion of course.

Chaffinch4 · 25/08/2017 12:41

If you mean Alma, that would get my vote.

lenaleave · 25/08/2017 12:30

Thanks so much for your feedback! The idea was that White is a very common surname so it would be nice to have a less common first name...Please keep commenting, baby due in a week!

Alba is nice but wouldn't go well with White. Something like Violet White or Esmeralda White if you want to be whimsical.
