Vincent, Christopher or Peter?

We've just found out we are having a boy Smile!

We have narrowed it down to one of these three names, (we have been through sooooo many names and these are the only three we can agree on, so it probably isn't worth asking for any more suggestions ATM);

Vincent
Christopher (Kit at home, until he's old enough to choose a nickname/ shortening)
Peter

Middle name will be Wilfred, Alfred or Albert. Surname is a common, two syllable name.

We already have a DD, named Emma.

I'd pick Vincent although I don't like it just because it can get shortened to Vinnie, which is okay.

Chris and Pete are horrible 🙈

itssquidstella · 20/08/2017 12:19

I like them all, but Vincent is my favourite. Kit is a lovely shortening of Christopher!

Kazzawazza69 · 20/08/2017 12:07

Vincent is lovely x

early30smum · 20/08/2017 11:44

They're all nice OP. I love Kit, so I'd probably say Christopher and call him Kit from day 1.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/08/2017 11:38

Christopher by a mile!

Love Kit too.

Decaffstilltastesweird · 20/08/2017 11:32

I think I like these best:

Vincent Alfred Surname
Christopher Alfred Surname
Peter Wilfred Surname

Vincent is super cool!

Decaffstilltastesweird · 20/08/2017 11:19

My gut says Vincent, but DH's says Christopher!

Maybe we go with Peter then? Confused

Tbf though, we will probably not decide for sure till we meet him, in case he just looks like a Peter / Vinnie / Kit. It's nice to see what others think too though.

Greendale - bear in mind there are mums reading on here that's sons are called vinnie!

Go with your gut op.....the more you ask for opinions on names the more of a mindfuck it'll be! X

Chaffinch4 · 20/08/2017 11:06

I think Peter goes best with Emma (if you're bothered about sibling names going together...!). It's a lovely name.

Decaffstilltastesweird · 20/08/2017 10:52

Super helpful thanks llangenneth Hmm. I've already said, these are the only names DH and I agree on and, believe me, we've been through a lot of names.

Thanks everyone else for helpful comments.

I'm old enough to remember these names first time round. Disliked them then, loathe them now!

Dina1234 · 20/08/2017 10:38

All those names are really good. Well done.

ilivebythesea · 20/08/2017 10:22

Christopher, definitely, but known as Kit.

JoyceDivision · 20/08/2017 10:17

Vincent Price
Christopher Lee
Peter Cushing

I like Peter best.

MummytoCSJH · 20/08/2017 10:15

Congrats! I think Vincent is lovely. There are a lot of Christophers and Peters.

indigo13 · 20/08/2017 10:12

I like Peter the most

ScarletSienna · 20/08/2017 10:06

I really dislike Vincent. It's so dreary-there's a good reason it has never been popular IMO.

Love Christopher and Peter though. Kit is a great nn too.

Summerisdone · 20/08/2017 10:03

I love Vincent, especially Vinnie as nickname.
I don't like either Peter/Pete or Christopher/Chris but I love Kit as a nickname for Christopher.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 20/08/2017 10:00

i haven't heard of a baby peter since 1971.

I think peter will make everyone smile. And it's easy to spell. Passes the stupid high court judge test too.

SuperBeagle · 20/08/2017 09:59

I think Vincent is the most "timeless" of the three in a sense, because it isn't, and hasn't ever been, particularly popular. Both Christopher and Peter have had significant bursts in popularity followed by lows. I think people may make assumptions about age if they read Christopher or Peter on a piece of paper (and mostly be accurate), but the variation in guesses would be greater if they saw Vincent.

So, I'd choose Vincent. But I don't dislike Peter or Christopher. Prefer Christopher, as Peter gets pronounced "peeder" where I live.

greendale17 · 20/08/2017 09:59

Christopher.

Hate Vincent aka Vinnie- urgh!

mondler · 20/08/2017 09:51

Congrats!

My friend had a Vincent whose 3 now and the name has really grown on me. Vincent Albert or Vincent Alfred sound lovely.

Second favourite is Christopher. It's difficult though if you really dislike Chris but as you say these days 'Kit' seems much more fashionable for the NN. Christopher would suit any of your chosen middle names IMO.

Jooni · 20/08/2017 09:46

I like Christopher, but if you don't like Chris (still the most obvious shortening IMO) and wouldn't be happy if he ended up being called that then I'd pick something else.

Peter is lovely and very unusual for babies these days without feeling too old-fashioned or dated.

grufallosfriend · 20/08/2017 09:41

Vincent! Cool and classic.

I too find Chris a little dated
